Question 2017 what did you do to your e38 today?

Patted it on the back! Poor girl has to sleep outside all winter in the garage until I can get back to work on her in the spring! Sleep well =D

Ordered front/rear stealth amber bulbs from Bimmian, along with a 4" MAF and rear window spoiler. Goals for this year include new door speakers (likely from Bavsound), between a 40-50% tint, and a tune by DUDMD. Then she's done.

Well yeah... but she'll be like 99.9% done. My goals with her were never grand to begin with, that's what my Z32 was for. Unless I'm able to score a deal on a supercharger, I don't see myself going down the route of modding for power.

Well it has been a long few days indeed. Started with what I thought was a coil died on me about 40 miles from my house, misfire and knock codes and the like, and naturally on cylinder 4. Get it home, swap a newer known good coil from my e39, problem persists. Pull the plug, had an absolutely massive gap, causing no spark whatsoever, which leads me to believe they are the original plugs in the engine, being that it has about 70k miles on it and coils are all dated December '96 (donor car for the engine/trans was a '97). Anyway, I have 8 NGK iridium plugs that I will swap in later tonight, at the moment I is on one of my e39 plugs.

I've had a 55-60 mph shake for a while, and kept putting it off because its cold outside and I work most days. Finally start doing it, Got the first bushing out and a new one in (I went powerflex) in about 45 minutes using a pulley puller borrowed from work, no issues at all. Jump forward 4 hours and the passenger side is still in the control arm, hasn't budged and is significantly more mangled. Well, I need to drive to work tomorrow so that had to go back into the car as is. Even with one bad bushing, there was a very noticeable improvement on how the car drives, and I'm looking forward to it feeling like a 7 series once again. Anyway, the grease boot was torn on that one anyway, so I think I will order a new one or pop by the scrap yard and see if a decent one is available, and then press the old bushing out correctly.

I also found out something fun with the brakes which pisses me off, but its hard to explain without seeing it, so I will once the video gets uploaded to youtube.

    - - - Updated - - -

Alright, here are the brakes, sorry for the shaky video. The hole where the retaining bolt goes has managed to shear itself of, so the rotor is just sitting there held on by the wheel bolts, which sucks because the rotors have a lot of life left in them.

That will not hurt anything - that bolt just hold the rotor in place while the wheel is off - once the wheel is back on it serves no purpose.

hate to tell you the truth why seat belts do NOT retract back...Its because of DIRT/ SWEAT... Try Cleaning the seat belts with warm soap and sponge...I noticed mine was getting stiffer why? I would play bball at gym and right after games take off home...I then realized the seat belts weren't retracting like they used to They were stiff like ...So I Cleaned them and now they are soft , flexible and retract like new...

That's good to know, although I think I will replace it just for my own peace of mind

Put the car cover on today after driving it with our unseasonably warm weather. Winter looks like it is on the way later this week, so the nap has begun.

Parked the e38 outside to paint in the garage. It's a balmy 40 degrees here anyway.

The e38 was lucky and got a bath on Christmas day to wash all of the road salt and cinders off.

Seriously though, I want an exhaust on the 7, and am fully considering something like this.

I've been thinking similar thoughts, but rather the cutout would go in the sides of the rear bumper. With my muffler delete, the pipes are already pointing that way (if the bolt-on downturns were removed).

Put on a pair of 275/35/19 Continental extreme contact DW tires in the rear. So far so good. I have a new alpina lip on the way to replace my current cracked one. Bought a new set of gloss black kidney grilles to replace my faded set, and I'm thinking about getting another set of headlight washers just to freshen up all of the front end.

I'll buy your nasty old ones if you do!

I replaced front sway bar links and bushings, and also the broken, deformed front fender liners and lower coverings right behind the fenders.

Probably the dumbest place to have your exhaust exit. Your rear passengers would kill you, then die.

Hah, well I guess I stick to the original plan of only doing that on the e39. One of the reasons for doing it is that it would leave me more room to build a hitch on the e38, a nice hefty one so that I can tow the e39 around.
