My downpipe is 3.5 in the engine bay then at the point it drops below the head it goes to 4 inch, a tight fit but I can still do plugs and coils without downpipe removal, the 3 inch was much easier to fit but the 3.5 will gain spool and power.

Perfect so I think that is the current plan just so I can use some of the parts I already have

Just pulled those exhaust pieces out of storage. Looks like everything's going to be 3.5 right off the bat! I'm not sure why I thought they were both 3". Also got my intercooler installed today. Looks like it belongs behind there

Got my Intercooler mounted up. Made brackets that I welded to the bumper shocks. Worked out perfect

    Looks like it belongs

Also dug up my resonator and muffler. Can't wait to hear how it sounds

    3.5" is massive!!!!!

Head is currently at the machine shop getting new valve seals and guides etc. Should have it back this week and I can install and get the manifold & turbo mounted.
Also installed the safety wire oil pump nut (welded it on afterwards for safety x3 lol) and got the pan back into place this past weekend.

I've been selling some parts and extras here and there and it's helping to fund this pit. I'm on the hunt for a 44mm wastegate now.

Thank you, 4dr is definitely the way to go. They are 8.5/9.5 but they have been taken off and put onto my other techno violet sedan and I swapped contours onto this one for now. Planning to get something fancy for this car at some point but not sure what yet

Absolutely, it's also been a plan of mine for a long time. It's never the "right" time so i figured just dive right in lol.
Most definitely, I'm thinking at some point this year all the FI guys in the Boston/NH area have to do a meet up (I heard Mexico has plenty of room for all of us)!

Yes that would be me. I'm selling some of the bottom mount parts that I won't be using since some of my plans changed. Turbo is definitely staying however

On my car, i have dual 3 inch down pipes merging to a single 4 inch. I could see the downpipe being tricky but the everything under the car is super easy. Its basically straight until the diff and then it kicks up and over.

On my e30 there is plenty of room for 4 inch but it hangs so low that ground clearance is a real issue. I have it tucked up really tight, like 1/4 inch under the floor but the exhaust is clearly visible from the side of the car, and I do scrape it occasionally going into parking lots and my garage.

By the sound of it things will get a bit tight but it's cool. I think its worth it for the ease of turbo swappability and the added bling. Btw you arent too far from me. I may need some pointers on the ms3 when I get it going. After watching your vids of the e30 & rolling antilag it looks like it's something I need in my life lol

I still have the factory heatshielding under the car so I can still tuck it close without worrying much. I really don't want to raise my car. It's hard to go back up once you get used to the look.

Finally got my head back from the machine shop!

Copper Spacer layed down with copper spray as per CES Instructions

    Headgasket on next

    Then Cut Rings

ARP Studs in place for the head to go on

Manifold installed and turbo in place for Mockup

I ended up chopping the elbow on the turbo because there is no way I can sneak the charge piping through the fender well. The manifold positions the turbo pretty low and points the gt40r practically into the tire and involves some chopping of the fender well. So in that case I opted for the behind the radiator route. Will also allow me to leave the AC dryer and its assorted lines right where they are in the fender well pocket.

    View from up top

Where it will sit more or less

Heres a view of the sliver of space to run my hot side piping while retaining AC. Finna be tight!

View from underneath where you can see my wastegate placement just above the compressor & rad hose

And a view from the rear of the engine looking forward under the manifold. You can see the wastegate gets dumped right over the compressor with just enough space to use and elbow and run it straight back under the manifold. Then I can easily tie into downpipe or open dump (probably the latter for now)

The picture makes it look closer than it really is but there is plenty of room to run the wastegate over the compressor. Looks like a total of 3 lines need to be custom fitted. the 2 going from firewall to Compressor / Dryer. And one line going from Compressor to Condensor. Other than that im in the clear! Woot!

Ordered a bunch more fittings and stuff for oil feed / drain & water lines. Still need to tap the m50 manifold for boost reference and get the manifold swap parts sorted. Then the car is getting towed to a very talented metal fab guy to get the full 3.5" stainless exhaust made up with wastegate plumbed as well as charge pipes made up. Coming together nicely! I torqued the studs to the final amount and got the vanos timed, and valve cover back on there. Only to find that the new oil pan gasket I installed is leaking Going to drop subframe hopefully one last time and get a good amount of high strength silicone on there so I never have to pull that off again. Also changed my mind on the drain plug drain and am going to weld on a -10AN bung to the pan for dedicated turbo return to prevent any chance of smokey turbolations. Starting to see day light at the end of this tunnel. I am itching to drive this thing.

35ftlb. Sit over night, then 65 sit over night then final 85 ftlb. CES made an install thread so I followed them word for word

Yes the hood closes without issue even with the stock hood insulation. Coupe usually has a little less space but I believe this manifold is made to clear coupes as well
