    Smart Top for the win!

One of my Christmas gifts was a Smarttop module for my car. I had one in my E89 Z4 and it was awesome, so I wanted one for my E46. I installed it yesterday, programmed it and tested it out..........AWESOME! I feel like I have a whole new car! Though only for convertibles, it offers features that are not just related to convertibles. I now have:

    * The ability to operate my top while in motion (you can program maximum speed limitations)

    * One touch operation of the convertible top button

    * Opening and closing of the roof/windows via the OEM remote key

    * Three flash turn signals for lane changes

    * Automatically locks when starting to drive

    * Automatically unlocks when the key is removed from ignition

There are many more features it comes with but these are the ones I choose to activate of the time being. This is such a cool accessory!!!!!

Several of those features can be coded into your car without any aftermarket parts. I coded my vert with NCS expert. Now I can hold the unlock button and lower the top and the windows. Auto door locks can easily be coded in. Most people code it out. You can code in the speed at which the doors lock. There's tons of features to play with. I also coded it so one touch on the unlock button unlocks both doors not just the driver's.

One touch on the top would be nice. It does indeed require an aftermarket unit.
