Hello,
Can someone guide me to a good tutorial or a DIY guide for the fuel filter on this car?
Thanks!
Ronnie
I have not seen a DIY for the 328d. I suspect it's much the same as the E90 335d: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=799059
Note that there's a bit of trickyness in priming the thing, involving a good code reader/setter, or otherwise running the LPFP.
Anyone have any luck changing the fuel filter on a 328d? And, can anyone recommend a change interval? I'm at 30k miles, and don't know the prior maintenance history of the motor (bought it used from a dealership).
I'd like to change the fuel filter/water separator, but I'm nervous about priming the system after without a code reader/scanner available to activate the pump without running the motor. Anyone have any luck doing the same? And, can this be done with a Snap on brand scanner?
30K miles is about right for fuel filter change - it's every third oil change, which is 10-13K miles probably.
I doubt that a non-BMW scanner can run the LPFP for a prime.
Thanks Floyd, the Snap-on scanner that I have access to will read codes (it's a $10k commercial auto repair shop scanner), but I'm not sure if it will let me bring power to anything. What about powering up the car and powering down the car several times (6-10 times) to prime the LPFP? Some have suggested doing the same, but I haven't heard of anyone actually doing it, and whether or not they have been successful.
I bought the car with 32k, and it was up to date with all dealership service, and oil changes. The filter could be new, but I'd like some piece of mind.
