Hi all, does anyone have the ability to obtain or create a vehicle order xml file? I had a major crash while coding a footwell module in an E84 and as a result the car has lost its VO. I can reload it using ISTA/P as long as I can get the correct xml file.

I've rebuilt one before with NCS expert, you can add all the bits in when editing the VO, and get the original VO from bmwvin.com
here's part of a VO trace-
E87_#0905&LHSW%0475*UF92$1CA$249$2MH$302$321$
So, in the FA editing bit, put E84_ as the model, and fill the other column with your options codes
#0905 - time criterion
&LHSW - interior trim
%0475 - paint code
*UF92 - model type (chars 4-8 of the VIN)
$1CA - OPTIONS CODES...
$249
$2MH
$302
$321
etc, finishing with the battery type as -A090 for AGM, 90 Ah for example

My source for factory VO files (and probably others) will not be available for a week due to the holidays.

Thanks for that. I'm using ISTA/P rather than NCS. I understand I need an xml type file - can I just copy the example you have above, enter my vehicles details and options and create an xml based on that? Do you happen to have a full VO xml file you can send me to edit?

NCSExpert isn't terribly hard to use and it works alongside ISTA. In this case I think it may be better.

Never used ISTA to code, and have never had a need for any XML file. Im sure one could be made if we knew the formatting. Do you have an example one?
That being said, you can use NCS expert and not have to worry about it.. Its also way faster.

Here you go.
Remove '.pdf' from name.
VP90883.xml.pdf
Also, to create an '.ssd' file for NCSExpert, copy the following text into a '.txt' file, and save it as "AVP90883.ssd" file (deleting '.txt' from it), and you can load it from NCSExpert. Then perform FA_SCHREIBEN job on the two modules that hold VO. Then SG_Codieren job on whole car. Much faster.

Thanks 328 Power 04! I cant open the xml/pdf file you attached. I think because the computer thinks its a pdf file, but then cant decode it. It it just the xml file but with pdf added as a file type?
Sorry if these sound like silly questions, but computers are not my strong suite.

Yes, correct. it is an xml file, pretending to be a pdf, ONLY so I can attach it.
You MUST rename it to remove the .pdf extension (be careful, Windows sometimes automatically hides the .pdf extension)
Or PM me your email, and I can send you that way immediately.

This is an old thread I know, but I've recently become a BMW owner and currently at the learning stage of ISTA software and require a VO xml file as requested by ISTA-P. I used the example provided by 328 Power 04 and managed to modify most of it to suit my VIN, but unable to determine where to get the information for checkDigit; location; checksum; buildversion and eWord.
Can anyone help with this?
Hey all - did this work out for you? Reading out the VO with NCS to then extract a file to convert to xml to use in ista/p to inject into a new module.
I’ve got the VO and details, can’t voew the .xml.pdf example in the above.
Can anyone advise please?
Hello can somebody help me with a VO xml file for f20. I have thos one but is not recognized by ista-p. Maybe the file is incorect. The vin is: J862599
Thank you.
Tried to create VO file for my E46 today to get ISTA/P recognized my car but no success.
Can someone help me with this? Vehicle VIN number: WBAEY31040KS41298
hi, Been trying to read up about creating a VO and came across this thread. Its cheeky i know but are you still able to create a VO at all. I have a very broken car at the moment FRM went down and now neither istaP, inpa NCS expert or will read the car. Ista P does however ask me for a VO.xml file. Honestly have no real clue how to create one and wondered if your able to help me out at all.
