Hi, all!
I am a big fan of the cars that were supposed to be cool (for me) since I was a teenager and now I am colecting them piece by piece (not literally) and doing everything to get them as close to perfection as possible.
I started with my favorit 87' 560SEC (still in progress):
The second was 80' Corvette (still in progress):
Ironic, but after deciding no more cars this year, eventaully I ended up with this 85' 635Csi in October:
And (in November) this beautiful 90' 850i, a true Japan Import with documented 109K km. (~ 68k miles) on the clock. Couple of last years it spent in UK.
Nice projects, Had a 560Sec and some E24's of my own a while back, Cool fun cars, Congrats!

Nice car and welcome to the madness of the never ending money pit.

What "thumbs up" really means
Thanks.
Going further, it seems that the last owner (two years) of the car was not extremely careful about it and as a result we have leaking rear diff, which I decided to rebuild changing all gaskets and bearings (just in case):
The steering box and was leaking, so does the transmission (o ring seal failure). Both fixed!
Also, a few rubber bushings are worn-out, lifting rubber pads are missing, both front inner fender guards cracked, so ordered everything at local dealership, inc. new belts, filters and spark plugs:
Also there are such issues like broken seat belt cover, missing ashtray cover, wrong steering wheel and radio...
I've already got a radio, steering wheel and a center console with an ashtray. Still looking for seat belt covers. It's a shame these are not available at BMW anymore.

My vision of this project is a clean OEM look body and interior + a slight drop and wide rims.
For this a Bilstein B12 kit (with Eibach springs) was ordered. And H&R springs. Eibachs will go in the rear end and H&Rs in the front. Received Bilstein B12 kit yesterday. H&Rs still on the way.
You probably have already seen my Bimmer on custom Bottlecap rims, but these are not exactly what want (the car is not lowered yet).
I am planning to make 19x8.7 and 19x10.3 custom rims using these Throwing stars and Brock B9s splits (no I won't cut staggered set of Thhrowing stars. I bought a 17x8 set for this purpose):
The idea is to have the rims like on forum bember Jinbal's car:
LOVE the 560SEC! Also one of my dream cars!
Congrats on the 8, great example!! That's a nice workshop you have there
Those rims are Killer!!!
Looks like those cars found the correct home, Not easy for them sometimes!-)
Here is a teaser for you of my Benz projetc...
Before starting:
A few snap shots of latest stages
Thanks. Agree with you.
Until I have any update about 8er here a few shots of 635csi story:
Ordered a set of Bilstein sport shocks and H&R springs. Also rebuilt brake calipers.
Started to strip it down for a respray in the same original color...
and found an unpleasant surprise
Lucklily a BMW still has replacement body panels...
The plan is to have this sixer running on 3-piece TRX 17' custom rims. Here is a snap shot of the the process:
The final result should be this:
Who's the custom wheel guy? Would love to order something similar. Tia!
Did you change the gear ration on your differential while you were in there? What did that Japan spec 8 come with 3.64?
Now you got me checking out 560 SEC on ebay LOL

6er shark and 560SEC?? You lucky devil you...very jelly. Two cars that have been on my wishlist for a very long time. What wheels do you have on the SEC? Love those euro headlamps too...make the car look so much better than the US headlamps. Great projects! Keep the pix coming.
By the by...any more pix of that throwing star hybrid wheel? Very interesting concept.

SEC is my favorite one The rims are made using original W126 wheels.
Now these are 18x9 and 18x10. As I am big fan of Buffalo soldiers movie Mercedes, at first time the centers were painted in black:
But as overal workmanship was very poor quality, I decided to do everything right. And therefore changed my mind regarding the center colour. These will be silver as in the picture posted before.
Meanwhile I got myself a set of Schmidt TH 18x9.75 and 18x10.75 which will be as a spare set for Benz. And these particulalry I am going to paint in black (centers):
As for the Throwing stars, my ones have not been not made yet, but here is another picture of such hybrids:
Are you making your throwing stars 18" or 19" ?
Edit: just noticed you will be making 19"
Does the original bmw styling21 have enough diameter where to bolt 19" lips safely? Wouldn't it be nicer to make 18"?

No it's not. I bought these from these guys who make custom rims https://www.facebook.com/garazoraktai/?fref=ts
Small update:
Basec on good practice, Eibachs will go in the rear
Meanwhile H&Rs are on the way home
So you are putting h&r's in front and eibach's in rear? Please post a pic about the car from side after the install. Would really like to see the stance with that setup. I also have h&r's and really love the stance but since those h&r rears are pretty bad i'm thinking of putting better rear springs but i dont want to rise the car...
