    VIDEO! A buddy's 2005 Mini Cooper S vs C5 Corvette.

At the time this video was filmed (in Mexico, of course), the Cooper S has a 17% pulley, upgraded intercooler (fills the factory intercooler inlet, but sits vertically rather than laying flat), "one ball" mod (basically a muffler delete), and has been fully gutted with a race cage and Sparco Sprint seats.

The Corvette is a C5, but it's impossible to tell what year. It seems like the Corvette has an exhaust because I only see two exhaust tips instead of the usual four.

Due to my buddy's video editing skills, skip to 1:20 to get right to the action.

Notice the Corvette gets a hard kick off the signal light and on the last pull.

Since this video was recorded, my buddy installed an Alta cold air intake (supercharger whine is MUCH more pronounced now) and a header, so it's that much quicker now. A custom, single 2.5" exhaust, bigger injectors (440cc, I think he said), and a custom tune is next on the list. After that will come an upgraded clutch and lightweight flywheel, followed by the RMW "Jesus Head" and some cams (and another tune to make it all work).

I figure he'll be pushing upwards of 250 to 260 WHP when all is said and done.

And he will still be FWD after all that work.

    For shame.

That's what I keep telling him. However, I did get to drive that car (before and after the pulley). Despite it being FWD, I can see how people who want to get introduced to something sporty (but aren't confident with a RWD vehicle) can enjoy it. It's responsive, nimble, and enjoys a good flogging.

His reasoning for getting something FWD is (and I quote), "I point it where I want it to go, hammer the throttle, and it takes me there."
My response was, "I'm sorry. All I heard was, 'I love understeer'."

Oh man... it's a blast. Extremely nimble, fast enough to get in trouble with, and you can hear every crazy noise the engine makes due to the lack of sound deadening material. He'll be tracking it not too far from now, so there is function to what he's done (and will be doing) to it.

Try not to cry when they pass you on a road course. OP car sounds like it would be a ton of fun on a track. These things are dirt cheap to pick up. I'm not sure what they cost to mod. Below video of the turbo version.
