I didn't want a one piece since it would be rather long, would need a hoop and could cause vibrations.

I ordered from here since the 10 places I called locally couldn't balance a BMW driveshaft. Called and they emailed me a sheet to take down my measurements.

Alright just to let everyone know, heat gun is working. Soak the tar and glue residue in mineral spirits for about an hour and it wipes off.

I'm so relieved I don't need to paint the interior.

Got the interior cleaned and passenger seat mounted, need bolts for the driver seat still. Not super happy about the seat brackets but it'll work and money should be spent elsewhere for now.
Driveshaft is in also, tight fit but it works.

Still have an issue of not being able to rev past 2000-2500. I'm 95% sure it's just too rich and I'm not good at AEM tuning. Also could use feedback from O2.

Plan now is to give my wallet a slight break, do coolant lines and finish wiring acc and gauges.

Does your driveshaft have the bushing in the centre to align it with the output flange off the trans, seems weird that 1 hole could be out. Also damn you for being slightly quicker then me with that under dash panel to hold the window switches, I'm doing the same thing in my car but wrapping it around the sides a bit just so you can't see any of the wiring stuff/ will look more stock

Yes, it's essentially a stock driveshaft with the front shortened. I got the bolt in, off by a hair, lowering the transmission a bit helped squeeze it through.
I made the panel about a year ago when I drifted with the S52, plan to remake one in ABS soon

Added the two little gauges to the hard motorsport vent delete thing.
Drew up some wiring diagrams for the panel I'll be adding. Dumb lit things like strobe lights, funky color interior lighting, but importantly the electric fan. :p
Also got the driver seating position finalized, weenie position but I like being able to see my hood and I'm not super tall.

I'm sick of this steering wheel by the way. I think I want a simple painted wood one. Hate suede, leather gets too hot.. yeah.

Tried to make good progress this weekend...
Plans were to do the wiring, bleed brakes and clutch, install the solid steering bushing
Changed all the brake lines to braided and was changing the clutch line as well, clutch line didn't fit so didn't get to finish that..
The solid steering bushing was an absolute pain in the ass, definitely do this with the motor out or if you're also replacing your rack.

The wiring panel I made is probably overkill but I wanted to do a nice job that wouldn't give me a headache later.
Picked up some CCW Classics, they need a good refinish
Got the weird hose and pipe combinations to make radiator hoses
Also picked up a new camera so I can get back to making videos.

Flipping switches gettin bitches. But for real that's a lot of toggles haha. I put 6 in my switch panel, currently use 3, and have no idea what to use the other 3 for. Currently have fans, lights, and wipers, planning on using #4 for strobes, then 2 just to look fancy

Yo long time no update but here we go

Radiator hoses top and bottom done.

Added DEI gold tape, mostly to hide scratches in the paint lol

Went to FD Irwindale, chilled in Coffman & Hohnadells pit

Was able to squeeze the power steering stuff in and mounted the cooler behind the kidney grills

My revised loop coolant line coming from the back of the JZ head to the waterpump rear pipe. All with AN of course. (& 1 silicone hose cause I didn't weld a fitting onto the head)

Got new headlights off ebay and tried to put the bumper on.

DROVE it for the first time! Still not a full dyno tune so it runs rich and backfires constantly.
    Issues/to do:
    - selector rod appears to be too long, won't fully go into 2nd, pops out of 2nd.
    - Gotta tune it obviously
    - stock metal bumper doesn't fit with intercooler, bash bar needs to happen
    - my front turn signals don't work (I cut the wiring cause the wires had melted from a short)
    - Get an exhaust done 3" straight pipe
    - party

I haven't used any of the AEM ECUs, but if it's anything like MS3, you should be able to get yourself a decent tune dialed in within a couple of days EASY. I just dialed in a nearly perfect tune on the MS3+MS3X in my 540 in about a day and a half. Drives better than the car ever did on the DME. I just hate to see you driving around not able to really enjoy your car, when a good tune is only a few keystrokes away!

That was quite a sketchy drive because the brakes didn't work either.
I don't really know what I'm doing when it comes to tuning. I was able to go in there and set all my sensors and get the gauges working but when it comes to changing fuel I'm not really sure. I'm going to schedule a tune after I get back from my vacation.

I do have to get a boost controller or at least boost solenoid before I go.

I keep forgetting to grab one out of my wife's car to try it out. At any rate, I am sure it will work.

After being used a lot, and at pretty high volumes frequently, we have just charged this sucker for the second time. I definitely plays via bluetooth when plugged into the charger.

My curiosity is why you would plug it into the cable when it has bluetooth? Must be for an application I'm not thinking of obviously..
My next mod is now a bluetooth speaker attached to my cage. This idea is amazing.

I'm super late to this party and you're already done with this part, but the key is to leave the dry ice on for 15-20 minutes, then chisel it off. It won't leave any residue if you leave it that long. The vertical surfaces are tough, but you can get 90% of the sound deadening with dry ice.

Sick build btw! I am digging it big time. Can't wait to see it tuned and rippin!

I got a bigger one (assumed bigger would be louder) that fits perfectly in the rear seat area of my RX7 and it might be the best mod on the car.

Nothing to see here. Just a picture I needed to take.
Some parts on order, official rules came out for southwest proam. Must have halo seat & arm restraints if windows down appear to be the biggest change.

I understand arm restraints but REQUIRING a halo seat? I hate halo seats. Why not do a hans?

Their post says Halo seat required for all new cars to the series, if the car has competed before it is grandfathered for 1 year.
Hans recommended but not required. Arm restraints needed if windows are down, window net is acceptable but not recommended.
    255 max tire width
    driving gloves required after qualifying
Complete body unless destroyed during event

Guess I gotta get a halo seat and restraints soonish. I may not even compete for the year and just do the events as practice
I'm with ya, I also hate halo seats. can't see shit

And here we go, drifting starts to become less fun and more of a PITA as the safety regulations start getting more and more "complete." I think some of the rules makers are forgetting how relatively low vehicle speeds are in drifting.

That depends, in my opinion if it’s pro am, and there is plenty of non competition grassroots events, then it only makes sense to start stepping it up as a feeder series for pro2, that being said if there’s not much for straight grassroots then that sucks and makes no sense as not everyone has 1500-2000$ to spend on a seat alone...
