Looks so sick dude. Why aren't you running the SLG (Seems Legit?) kit? Don't want to swap to M3 rear?

Edit: NVM I just read up a couple posts above. Bummer. Mike is a super good dude, and local to me lol

New chasebays dual caliper system arrived with wilwood calipers.

I have to say that these fit amazing. No grinding issues like I had with the SLG. Calipers are beautiful.

Next I decided to tackle a noise around the shifter. Frustrated I ordered a new guibo, bolts, xcessive trans brace and condor trans mounts.
I think the issue was a result of one driveshaft nut backing out due to vibrations, probably because of my custom trans mount was a Y mount.

    Out with the custom unit.

In with the Xcessive one, they drilled it slotted so it works with Stock engines and JZ/ZF combos. 1/4" Steel. I like it a lot having broken a lot of OEM E36 trans braces in the past.

To Do before July 11th Event:
Windshield (appointment scheduled with glass dude)
    Mount tires on spare wheels
    Toe alignment
    Bleed Handbrake
    Add Oil Catch
Add Coolant Overflow (gatorade bottle ftw?)
Cut all the zipties I left long

First event done! Car drove really well, first few laps I kept spinning just trying to get used to how to it initiates and how much the boost lags but I got it after trying some 3rd to 2nd gear shifts.
Only real issue I had was the car getting hot and spewing coolant after 2 back to back runs, and cool down laps didn't help much since it was over 100deg out even at night. Eventually my fan crapped itself too.
I also still don't like the AKG shifter and had some struggles with that.

Anyway here's the pics I've gathered so far.

And here's a video of the first full lap I got. Not my best run but it was exciting since it's been so long.

Thanks, I like how it sounds too

EVENT 2 is Aug 9th. I knew I didn't want to have cooling issues so went a little nuts

Step1 New radiator with dual fans and a shroud. This radiator also has 1.25" tubes which they claim supports 650whp (probably LS based V8)
Upset with how hard removing my last radiator/mounts were I decided to redo that with some bottom mounts that don't require any welding

Rear bar from Street Faction finally arrived. Probably not going to throw this on in time.

Also decided to see what the hype was about on these iridium plugs. JZ coils need all the help they can get when it comes to spark.

Cheapo whiteline strut bar, mainly just to use it as strut tower reinforcement plates. Also pictured is the Chasebays overflow I just got.

Trimmed the front bumper mouth for more airflow. looks a little strange from the side but it's alright, need a new bumper soon anyway.

    Not pictured:
    - Changed my oil cooler to a smaller Derale unit that has higher BTU's, also moved it to right behind the kidney grills.
    - Interior kill switch added
    - New rad fans will turn on via temp sensor and not a manual switch.
    - Realigned Power Steering pump and pulley, it had some weird tick noise.

New stuff in, drove it around 20 miles yesterday it was 107* F out.
Car stayed cool around 178-184 the whole time.

Lookin good, feeling good, ready for the event Friday.

BTW forgot to post the alignment specs
    Front
    Caster 6.5
    Toe 0
    Camber (i forget but I think 6)

    Rear
    Camber -2.3
    Toe 0
    Caster idk stock?
my rear end is currently all stock bushings.
I have some camber arms to put in to 0 camber but I hear it'll mess with toe, what do I gotta do there?
RTABs I plan to run some sphericals.
Diff bushings I'm thinking AKG or Condor

Rear tires didn't wear out super fast, I assume because the toe is 0 but definitely only wearing the inside of these 255s

    Event 2 Done!

I last minute added a cheapo whiteline strut bar, hoping it helps strut tower reinforcement but the metal is so thin it probably does nothing.

Car drove great again. The new griffin radiator and fan setup worked perfect, takes about 3 runs to get to 200deg which is not really overheating but cools right back down at idle.
I struggled a bit more this time as I was trying to go faster and use 3rd gear more, everyone said I looked fast now I just need the consistency down when I'm going that fast.
They also pushed the cones out to get us closer to the wall and I don't know if I was scared of the wall or something but I really struggled in that zone.

Later in the day my clutch started to make some noise if I was to lightly press the pedal, it also always pulses the pedal on a light press. It all kept working though. I'm going to try a new clutch master cyl to try and get engagement up a little, it's on the floor right now, my biggest fear is that the clutch pivot pin is destroyed, gah should have gotten a metal one.

In case you feel like watching 8 minutes of gopro clips here you go.

If/when you pull the trans to address that pivot pin, I'd have a throwout bearing on hand as well. The low pedal sounds like a pivot pin and the noise/weirdness during light pressure sounds like TOB.

That's what I thought initially too but could it be anything else? TOB was a new OEM one and it doesn't exactly have a ton of miles on it.

I've seen clutch disks missing forks cause that kind of feel. But my money is likely on bad TO bearing.

Pulled everything off a few days ago. Everything looked fine. Don't think the trans was making contact with the V1 collins pilot bearing though. Got a v2 pilot bearing, much longer.
Clutch looks basically new but still changing it out for the ACT 4 Puck I got.
Pivot pin and spring clip were fine, fork has some gouges where the TO bearing touches but doesn't look concerning.
Metal pivot pin and new spring clip going on anyway.
If that doesn't feel better I read in the FI/Drag section that a 328i slave will improve feel.

Been toying with the idea of downsizing turbo to have less lag but the cheaper fix is a lower diff ratio.
    I believe the dumb 95 M3 has a 3.15
    I'm interested in a 3.46 3.73 or 3.91
Anybody know what cars those come in so I can steal one at a junkyard or something?

    Side note
Trans was a bitch to get out while the engine was in. Going to hammer the shit out of the tunnel.
I bought a '02 E46 M3 about a month ago now. It needs love at 156k miles but it's solid and should be a fun street/track build.

So the throw out bearing was fine? Weird...

I don't know about the diff ratios. I would go for the 3.91. Maybe this site will have some starter info? http://www.bokchoys.com/differential/index.htm

    the throwout bearing was perfect.

Only suspect parts are the fact that it was a ebay fx clutch, slave/master cylinder, slight rear main seal leak
(though the flywheel is huge and would probably block any oil from getting to the clutch) I put a new rear main now too.

    Event 3 Complete!
    - New ACT Clutch bites so much harder. Clutch kicks now feel very reliable.
    - We did a little tuning and squeezed a little more power out of it, 420whp on 91 now
    - Accelera tire at 24psi 255/35 was not enough grip for this track
    - 3.15 diff doesn't seem like it's right for me and this car.
    - Car stayed very cold the whole event, 85* weather
    - I could benefit from a Z3 Rack probably, steering slow in the center
    - Need to zero out rear camber

That was likely my last event for the year since I'll be on vacation during the December event. So begins my off-season.
Plans are to cage the car, do every rear end bushing, camber arms, spherical rtabs
    - For the rear end: Condorspeedshop every bushing (or is there something cheaper?)
    - Cage will probably be simple and cheap, not worth overspending on this chassis IMO
    - Z3 Rack if I can find one cheap, SLR Ultra Arms if I have the budget

I'm awful at drifting, but zeroing your camber in the rear will add grip. Maybe not change tires until you've sorted the alignment. It's easy to make a ton of changes and then not be able to single out which one caused things to go awry.
Your car is rad. One day, you're going to take me for a rip in it.
