    Introduction

    Hi guys,

I was prompted this way to introduce myself.

I've been fixing up an '01 525iT for about a year now. I posted a thread forgetting that I had my Buick listed on here, and someone asked for pics.

Here's some shots of the 5er and the GN. They were both freshly washed and slated for paint correction earlier this year.

I picked up the touring to make into a daily driver (and dreaming of an LS or S54 swap). Six days after it arrived I wrecked my 3800SC swapped Fiero, so fixing up the E39 got back burnered. I've just been working on it as I can.

Anyway, hello and thanks for all the info. The search function on here is invaluable.

Nice. GrandNats/T-Type/GNX are so confusing... typical Detroit "we threw out all these options and models and you could mix and match and every year we changed what something means so you never know how the car was equipped". I guess that doesn't apply to the GNX maybe but it sure does to the others...

Cool old Detroit hot-rods though. Had a roommate way BITD w/ a G-body Monte SS. Wasn't hugely impressive... always thought he was a dope for buying that instead of a GN.

Do you have turbo/tuning upgrades on that bad boy?

I don't think the touring would fare too well. Last time the Buick saw a dyno was about 10 years ago, but it was putting down about 475 ft lbs. I don't think the B25 could fight that.

I always liked the turbo Regals for that. One of the last cars that you could get however you want. I think they even offered them with radio delete. These days it's all option packages.

My second car was an '88 Monte Carlo LS. I built a 400 SBC and dropped it in... only to have it stolen shortly afterward.

The Buick is modded but not extremely. I put larger injectors and a larger turbo on it as well as alcohol injection.

The NOS MAFs are long gone, and the remans tend to have dead spots in them. Rather than keep swapping MAFs looking for a good one, I went with a piggy back speed density module. That dramatically changed my tuning possibilities.

A back burner project of mine has been seeing if I can get it to run off of a PCM from a supercharged 3800, but I haven't gotten that off the ground yet.

Hello fellow bimmerheads; I'm finally moving on up from the 3-series Mafia to the 5 series elegance. Drove a 00 E46 323i for 18 years and 410,000 miles until the wheels came off... lol I've recently purchased a 00 E39 540i with an M-Sport package. Therefore I'll be hanging around this forum for help and the many different issues and concerns with E39 ownership.
