I'm considering a 2012 135i that is for sale at small local dealer/reseller. Car is in quite nice condition, one owner car, rides well, but there are concerns.
First, it has over 70K miles in 4 years. I know that's not far off the 15K a year average, but still high.
The seller has no service history, just a CarFax that indicates a minor hit to the rear end in 2012 and a service with oil change at 66K miles. That's it.
If I'm not mistaken, this is the N55 engine. I'm concerned about the HPFP, carbon build up... Don't know if these are less of an issue with this engine as compared to previous.
Would appreciate any feedback on this. Seems like a fun car to drive, but I do not want to buy a problem.
Thanks...
I would be wary- since you're getting it through a local dealer with no records, do a very comprehensive PPI report. N55 engine is supposedly better than my N54 (I have an 08' 135i), the oil cooler also got upgraded in the newer ones; which is a huge plus. Carbon build up is less of an issue as well than from the earlier ones - they're a blast to drive though Best of luck!
