Today first test of the automobile on the circuit of IssoireI I made a mistake on my Gopro only on photos mode !, but I can tell you that the automobile worked well, reliable, the only concern being the amounts of doors which open at the end of straight line to high speed, it will be necessary to put stiffenings. For the pleasure, extra, always very easy very effective, I think of be able to say that it was the fastest. The reference time before with 1200 kilos being 1 ' 11 "57 the last time that I had run. Today the track was wet but little by little, it dried, and then 1 09 50, 2 seconds it is enormous! Besides without forcing. While the precedent had been obtained in the effort The automobile amazed quite a lot of friends
, the frame and the weight improved works wonders, even with modest one experimental one in its edge as me. There is much better, but in report efficiency pleasure, I believe that it is extraordinary. I am satisfied the made work paid, everything walked well. We can note a little more imbalance in the back on the big brakings, it will be enough to lower the back ...

Ah. I was looking for more of bolt on type. Don’t think these will hold up to brutal summer heat vs force of wind. Thanks anyways.

I'm ready, and the car too for the next trackday, this one is very special one, organised by BMW M Club de France, they are excellent and their events are always amazing ! Nest May the 1st all day long on the school track, and the evening on the ex Formula one track !

I washed the car, all tools and wheels are ready for Magny-Cours ! Wet wheels too !

    Last year !

Last trackday at Magny-Cours, organized as the last year by the excellent team of the BMW M Club of France on Tuesday, may the first (all day long on school track, very technical one) during night on ex Formula one track!) and on Wednesday, May the 2nd, 2018 (all day long on formula one track),
Even there it is necessary to underline the remarkable organization, high-quality services while keeping reasonable prices.
The meal caterer at noon on the circuit club, presence of a simulator of piloting, BMW France proposing tests on road of a premium range witha team of instructors, of course my son was very impatient to go on board with me....Gatmobile was reliable and effective I win almost 2 seconds on the school track . The bad point is that I met trouble with rear axle, camber wasn't good, it was very instable but It was one of the fastest. It is a strange feeling to run faster than the last time by having the impression to be slow... I felt good that with a more stable train I shall have been able to do much better, but we had fun well with my son
    My son is impatient !

The big problems of trains back limited me all day long, the automobile being very unstable especially in left turns,

Mountind a kit for ajustable camber and parallelism

Old system was out of order , with this new kit (welding)and brand new flex il would be more reliable.

    There is (obviuosly) a Z3 coupé !

First I mount everything without welding then regulation and after welding

    Very long job !

Reassembly of the whole back train, no time to make photos of all the stages, sorry, I was really in a hurry, thanks to the people who borrowed the special jack which really facilitates the work and relieves my back. Also the tool Facom U70 U70 help me to adjust the camber and the pinching out. I put the regulations almost at the maximum for the camber and the pinching out. Then I am going to roll the jack of pit the crossbar and the arms slide on plates, so easy !

Then I make the current situation by measuring the pinching out and the camber, in camber I have 4 to the left and 2,75 to the right the pinching out (parallelism) 3. It is this method which I used in 2014. I begin by settling the camber, it was easily at 2,2 on each side. It was my objective, I had 2,15 previously in 2014. It modified the pinching out, It is a little more delicate, but I arrive at 2,5 of the pinching out I wanted 2 but well. And equivalent distances between central girders and tool on my wheel which is a proof that the back is straight with the body.

you have a beautiful z3, It's even better because it's been made for the track which is so rare.
One thing I noticed in your pictures is you have some body roll in the corners, perhaps more than is desirable for best grip. This is something that is controlled mainly by sway bars. Mine runs pretty flat and is fairly well balanced with no excessive under or oversteer. For reference I run a 32mm Ground Control slide adjustable bar front and a 22mm bar rear. I have the front set on full stiff and the rear set on full soft and I'm not getting anywhere near as much body roll at mid corner. (you can see in the picture below how mine sits flat in the corner compared to the blue car which looks similar to yours) Just something you may want to consider

Thank you for you advise ! Very nice car ! I think I have to consider your advise, I chose soft suspensions because it is easy to learn and drive, perhaps it's time now to have real one
Somes pics of the last trackday :

Typical french sport's car by Renault :

4 cylinders or 6 ? Easy to guess, 6 lights means 4 cylinders, 4 lights means 6 cylinders (same motor as De Lorean)

    American way of drive !

Great pictures and cars, thanks for the sharing.

Some food for thought on the subject of stiffer sway bars for your car.

I've been instructing with the BMW CCA and other clubs for 20+ years now. I say this not to brag but because the question of what improvements should be made to a car in what order as a driver progresses comes up all the time from students.

    The general consensus is that the order goes something like this;
    1. Brake pads and brake fluid, to be sure they function at elevated temperatures and car can be slowed down properly
    2. Upgrading tires so they can perform properly on the track at elevated temperatures
    3. Stiffer Sway bars
    4. Stiffer springs and shocks
    Etc. etc.

The reason that stiffer sway bars come before springs and shocks is that they only affect a car's handling once the suspension starts to load in a corner. By keeping the car flatter it helps the suspension to operate in a more limited and desirable range of motion so camber in particular is not adversely affected. This in turn helps keep a larger tire contact patch in touch with the road. By themselves stiffer sways bars won't make your car more difficult to drive but they will add grip so you'll be able to corner faster.

This means you could actually drive at the same pace with a greater margin of error and be safer. But this is not how most people approach driving at the track and if the car allows one to go faster most will. So indirectly not because of the car but because of the driver they will increase the risk of driving a car on the track because the car can go faster.

In any event they are a good, first step in making improvements to the suspension.
