Kimi up top.
Wonder how much time Merc is leaving on the table.
So far McLaren has yet to post a time faster than what they posted in last years test while other teams have beaten last years times by a few seconds in many cases.
At least from my quick glance at a few times from last year compared to what they've done this year so far. Could be wrong, but the best I found from last year was 1:24.7 and best so far this year is 1:24.8.

Bet they could turn faster laps if the FIA would return the half-dozen cylinders they stole over the years.
Man, thats rough. Rooting for them to get things back on track.
Doesn't sound awful...

Bottas on top!
...for the moment.
Over a second quicker than Kimi. Granted Bottas was on ultrasofts rather than softs like Kimi, but still...

Hard to compare apples to apples with the V10s of 2004 since Barcelona added a chicane in 2007, but comparing to the V8s of 2007-2013 the best lap time most years during testing (from what I could find) was in the 1:20-1:22 range with an outlier from the Brawn team getting 1:18. It seems like the cars in general are just as fast and getting faster this year..........Honda is just completely dropping the ball.
Yeah, not looking good for them.
Not sure where Honda went wrong.
Still maintain that the cars sound like trash, but that Honda engine sounds like an actual trash can, filled with marbles, being furiously shaken by an angry yeti.
If you listen carefully that Honda engine just doesn't sound healthy. Even when getting out of the garage I hear like misfires.
Time for a new 'Test Season' thread? (just an idea, dunno if 13 pages bothers anyone)
BMWs are fun in the snow too...
Good video found with great sound and video quality.
What is the deal with the Honda engines sound?
I think I heard that they are working on a new technology, and that it was this new technology which was the main cause of the sound it makes. They keep working on it because they think it's going to pay off in the long run.
Less power sounds different?
Honda was noticeably different sounding than the other last season too.

they all sound anemic...
Ahh the good old days when F1 engines sounded like F1 engines
I'd like to know what inefficiencies caused the late 80's turbo engines to sound so very good, then I would ask those inefficiencies be integrated into these engines.

Sigh. The MP4/4 is a V6, and it sounds every bit as good.
