Yep, auaq. That was one of the articles that I read this morning leading me to believe that Whiting's new rule clarification may not be that clear afterall.

Apparently Honda significantly overhauled their PU:

Verrrry interested to find out what they changed about it in their bid to catch up to Merc.

2 extra seats for those people who deserve F1 but have no experience?

Like Minardi years ago. A backmarker team and a way to get talent identified.

It seems like JRSL is in administration, and they run the team, but a sister company, Manor Grand Prix Racing Ltd has the rights to participate in F1. I wonder if that's a saleable asset by itself that the courts could seize to get JRSL out of administration. I wonder what other impacts that may have.

I would think they'd need Bernie's/FIA's signature to sell "their" rights to a grid spot in F1. I'm not 100% sure but I believe each team's application needs to be reviewed and accepted by Bernie and is a contract between the team and Formula 1 with the team giving a couple of million to Formula 1 that f1 holds in escrow until such time as the team needs it. Again, not 100% sure about this but I do recall reading similar.

From what I've read Manor cannot even afford (or have even completed the necessary) to build a car. Not even the parts necessary for crash testing, never mind being able to show for pre-season testing next month. I think it would be rather late in the day even if a backer came through now for them to be on the grid in Australia.

The consortium left it really late to pull out of the deal. Perhaps the reasons above made them think that starting their F1 bid by missing the first (few) races was not worth it - that and accumulating all Manor's debt? Just speculation here.

In all fairness to Manor, did anyone really think Sauber would have scored 2 points late in the season? Coming in 10th v. 11th was certainly worth a few million £s.

Yeah, I was disappointed when Sauber scored to get ahead of Manor. I had hoped that Manor would get the prize money. Sauber was just plain awful last year considering they've so much experience in F1.

Real pic of the new Renault?

If so, VERY encouraging. That's a sexy nose if ever I saw one.

Sorry, nope. That was the mule for introducing last year's livery:

Nice insight into how Jolyon and Kevin spend their off-time though: peeping at girls on the beach with binoculars.

Ah well, poop. Knew it was too good to be true. Also figured if it were a real teaser, it probably would have been plastered all over the F1 corner of the 'net as such.

Hopefully they stick with the yellow because I think it looks great and really easy to ID the cars on track. Too many silver/dark cars at the moment.

Massa has gotten out of his Formula E contract now (easy, as it was some kind of a preliminary contract). Path clear to Williams.

I hear that Rosberg's been revealing his plans for next year: launching his own line of shampoo for sparkly blond, wavy hair (and is asking for suggestions for the name), production of weaponised throwing hats, and entry into next season's X-Factor competition with his Britney Spears cover band.

He's also looking to invest in the pharmaceutical industry and developing a new product similar to preparation H, as he has seen such a massive amount of cases of butthurt and wanted to help humankind get rid of it.

    Good article, MrMonkey.

Seems like Liberty can only start renegotiations in 2020. If the gov does come down hard on Fiat as they have done with the VW group I can see issues for everyone in the group barring Ferrari since they don't make a diesel cars and can therefore, by Marchione, be excluded from the penalty bin. If I were him I'd go on to state that Ferrari has been the company that furthers the groups goals and that the diesel makers have curbed it.

If in 2020 their current agreement is renegotiated I can admit that F1 (and Liberty) would be prepared to put up a little more for Ferrari (maybe not 100MM as it stands today but they will benefit). Without those funds Ferrari may as well pack it in because even with the funds they haven't won 20 races in the past 7 years. So without the money I don't see a reason for Ferrari to spend hundreds of millions of their own money for no reason what so ever. However, if they could maintain their cigarette sponsorship, and/or, get some really favorable rulings within the next few years I could see them staying in if they have a reasonable/good chance of consistent podiums/wins.

But, I don't believe we (and especially I) know too much about it to make any reasonable conclusion. If alfa starts to sell big in the states I could see Ferrari handing over their reigns to alfa. Starting with Alfa getting more stake in Ferrari with the eventuality of it turning into an Alfa works team - powered by Ferrari.
