This chilly morning when starting my car I heard a loud his and threw SAP codes. Under the hood I found the source. This hose has a large hole in it. I believe it is part# 11721437884
I just wanted to check with the forum before buying. Also, has anyone done this? I'm not the most gifted mechanic, so any tips would be greatly appreciated! I'm hoping this will solve my codes and rather anemic acceleration lately.
Thanks gents,
scrap
Yes, correct number. However some further diagnosis should be done. The pipe failing should not affect acceleration at all. However, some things that could cause running issues could also cause excessive exhaust backpressure and blow that hose out.

On the engine end of that hose is a SAP solenoid that opens when the SAP is on. It is likely that the SAP solenoid is leaking.
The usual failure sequence is for the solenoid to leak, allowing exhaust gas to go to the SAP, destroying it.
The hose could have broken on its own, or it could be a secondary failure from a bad SAP solenoid.
Bumping this up.
This same hose (P/N 11721437884) began leaking on my car as well last night. The end right near the valve is completely crumbly and dried up, with a large hole now.
I have no other symptoms--engine still runs great, no odd behavior.
I called a local parts guy to get a new hose, and he said the same thing as Blacklane above: that the failure of the valve is the culprit and the hose generally doesn't go bad just on its own.
Thoughts on that? Is it a good idea to just go ahead and replace that valve as well? As far as I know, both the hose and the valve are original from the factory in 2001.

Also, the parts place is 15ish miles each way. What is the risk to the car if I drive with that hose leaking there (and possibly there and back if I don't put the hose on in the parking lot)?

The sap system runs at cold startup only, is my understanding. Less than a minute iirc
Designed to heat the cats for emissions...
Many delete the whole system and code out

Righto. I decided to go ahead and replace the hose and the valve (and the gasket for the valve).

If you look very, very, very closely, you can see the teensy weensy hole on the underside of this hose:

I also replaced the gasket that goes between the valve and the manifold. The gasket is part #11727505259. The new valve included a thin metal gasket in the box, but the fiber gasket with that different part number was the same as the one that came off of the car, so I decided to go ahead and use it instead.

Check your SAP line also if the top one is that crispy. I broke mine while doing the VCG and it kicked off the CEL immediately.

Zed's dead baby. Zed's dead.
Do you know if this is the entirety of what you're referring to? I'm not sure if there is another elbow or length of pipe or something that is needed: https://www.autohausaz.com/pn/BM-11727574490

Is this valve worth cleaning, or just replace it? My SAP is quite loud, and I attribute the volume to the valve.
