I bought some door handle gaskets on Ebay for my 1994 740i and found them to be junk. I did a search and found an old post where Shogun sold them a while back. Are they still available from him or anybody else. Thank youDSC08127.JPG
You are not the first one which first buys the cheap ebay junk and buys from me then later. Have stock, just sent one set to Canada see my offer here http://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/sh...E32-E34-E36-Z3

Ah, I saw those, from Thailand, I believe. Once sorry I didn't get a set, I am no longer. Working bigger 'fish' ATM, tho. THX, Shogun for all you do for us.
Comment by paul 4332 on 06-12-2016 in a DIY on the E36 forum: I just did this repair on my M Coupe and would not have been successful if it hadn't been for all the good folks who contributed to this thread. I read virtually every post, watched a few YouTube videos, read Shogun's DIY and more. It took some time but eventually I was able to remove the covers and old gaskets and attach the new gaskets to the handle covers. The gaskets were sourced from Shogun- they fit perfectly BTW. They are rubber, not like the ill-fitting junk I got from Thailand.

I need to do mine eventually. But I don't want to have to remove all my door panels and handles...ugh!!
You don't need to Tony. Just the little rubber plug inside the door frame. It's an easy fix once you get the gaskets. If your door handle frames are good you only need new gaskets. A little screwdriver with a hook on the end and you'll be surprised how fast you can replace all four gaskets. If you get them, shogun can send you his link, or I'll tell you how I did them. If yours are bad, they'll give your four door handles a completely new look. Also no more water dripping down into the mechanism.

No need to remove door panels and handles, only the outer doorhandle trim, there is a slider. See here

You only need one tool: Go to your local hardware or paint store and pick up a paint can opener, or a small ring spanner

You might need a new rubber cap/plug, as they are very brittle. http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=41_0697
Should be probably # 11 Blind plug 12X24MM 51711863869 (check the dimensions)

Just wanted to send out a quick shout to thank Shogun and whoever did this little tutorial:
http://www.bimmerboard.com/forums/posts/304688
as I replaced my handle gaskets in less than half an hour for all four doors. Gasket/seals fit perfect and the instructions were foolproof!
Cheers!
Just PM'd Shogun..lol the night I got my E32 I scrubbed her down but-good..especially around the door handles. I thought they were all mildew and moss, but a lot of what I was scrubbing off (it was in a violent rainstorm and it was getting dark) was the actual gaskets around each handle!
EDIT--For the heck of it, I actually finally got the stopper off the hole on one door last night and thought I'd give this procedure a try. It is amazingly simple. And yeah, the Ebay gaskets are COMPLETE crapp. I mean the little tabs don't fit anywhere near where the holes are, and if you crammed it on it'd be a wrinkled up mess. The shape was awful and not close to correct.
But the door handles do look better without a gasket than with a poor/cracked one. And the procedure is not as daunting as I thought just 48 hours ago lol. The toughest part will be the cleaning of the old dirt and stains from the body where the gasket edge was. A little bit of medium/coarse cut cleaner and a microfiber cloth does the trick with a little elbow grease..
The car will really look complete in a couple of weeks, I trust
Thanks,
B
