My fav of all x5s. Gorgeous

I listed the Volvo on eBay but my wife is kind of attached to it. She might rather let the X5 go so curious if there is any interest. I just had $6k worth of maintenance done to it to fix all the issues. New timing chain guides, chains, tensioners, all gaskets, power steering hoses, driver side front control arms, new stock head unit, alignment and transmission fluid flush and filter change which fixed the hard downshift. If anyone is interested, shoot me a PM so we can feel it out.
Only issue at all is the headlight problem where the driver side goes out. I tried bulbs and it didn't fix it. It's either ballasts for the light control module but I will price accordingly with this in mind. Other than that, no vibrations, no leaks etc. 111,000 miles 03 4.6is.
Just an update that all the issues have been fixed. Headlight was a ballast, wheel tilt was driver side seat switch, stereo issue was HU which has been replaced and then recently we had been having rear air bag issues so I went ahead and got the ECS spring swap kit. Got the passenger side done and will do the driver side in the morning. Had to disconnect sway bar, shock and lower the subframe to get the new springs in but the upper and lower pads fit perfect. I have read it should ride just like stock and for $230, it sure beats chasing air leaks and replacing bags.
Noticed a slight clunk and a 65mph vibration so went ahead and replaced parts on passenger front. Upper and lower arms as well as the ball joint. Only took about an hour and 20 minutes. Had it aligned this morning and wow, what a difference! Drives like it's new!

when the time comes look into moosehead's spherical bushings. i installed on my 4.8iS and am very happy with the tightness in steering and the very little to no steering wheel play. great looking 4.6iS as are all your other bmws you've put your stamp on. i actually prefer my old 03 4.6 over my current 4.8iS but don't tell anyone lol.
I had those on my e34 and loved them. I'm just trying to keep this one almost all stock since it's the wife's DD.
Hi OP, how’s your estoril 4.6is doing? I got my 03 4.6is ( same color with alcantara interior) with 96,000 miles back in March and am putting some miles into it this past few weeks. Drives great but it does have a few small issues.
It has small leaks from the valve covers, oil filter adapter, valley pan, and a slight and quick clatter upon start up that goes away in a few seconds. Steering pulls slightly to the right on straight away; and steering wheel rattles during quick turns in parking lot maneuvers.
in the shop now to have the mechanic check on the leaks and steering issue.
Love its look and feel and enjoying the drive so far. Hope to fix it up good so it’ll last another 100,000 miles!

The leaks are normal at that mileageage and honestly, the noise you hear is either the guides or your starter. Does it make a real loud spinning/whirring sound right when you start? Does it ever fail to start? If so, likely the starter which ours suffers from as did my old E38. I will replace it soon. If it's not that loud, it's likely guides. I would suggest just having them done along with the oil leaks since you will be paying half the labor already. Same thing happened to ours.
Not sure about steering rattles but pulling to the right likely indicates suspension failure or alignment issue. I replaced all the ball joints, control arms etc so ours is very tight. Only rattle ours makes is rear hatch but I just need to move the bump stops out a hair as I put a piece of cardboard in bt the hatch and stops yesterday which made it go away.
Other than that, I absolutely love ours and my wife will never let it go.
I'm buying my wife a 2018 Tacoma so we are going to sell the x5. If any serious interest, shoot me a PM.
127k miles, guides and seals done, new rear tires, new headlights, new front pads. Mechanically 100%. Small bit of body damage on back which I'm likely to have fixed if a buyer wants.
Sorry to see you're selling it. Looks like a beautiful example of a 4.6. Do love that Estoril blue.

She actually decided to keep the x5 over getting a new tacoma.
Glad to hear it! Why the change of heart?

Started to get a ton of interest and she realized how rare it is. She also gets really attached to vehicles and gets really upset when I sell my cars. She was excited about the Tacoma until I posted on ig and had 3 messages immediately
My wife absolutely LOVES her Kalahari Beige 3.0 E53. So I can't blame your wife for wanting to keep the Estoril 4.6.

I was in the market for an Estoril 4.6iS last month but ended up getting an Imola 4.8iS when I couldn't find a clean 4.6 for the right price. It also seems that a lot of the Estoril E53s have issues with peeling paint, so I gave up trying to find one.
I'm glad she decided to keep it because that thing is super clean.
Just did all 8 control arms and the 2 front ball joints on my wife's x5 this weekend. Took me just under 4 hours and wow, what a difference!!!! All but one ball joint were pretty much shot. You couldn't tell with the wheel shake test and it passed inspection but it was well worth time and money as it drives like new! Engine and trans mounts next then the car will go to the body shop to get the exterior tip top. She wants a sub and the wheels to be powdercoated so that will happen soon as well.
If anyone has any interest in the 4.6 with guides done, shoot me a PM. This e53 is going to become an x5m.
Swapped in an 8.1 Android Avin unit and all 4 new Bilstein's.

Trevor said he could not keep the AWD with the swap and my wife doesn't want to go RWD because we use it in bad weather as the family hauler.
Added an amp and sub for her. Going to have the rear corner dent repaired next and then fresh powdercoat on the wheels.
Put down a deposit on a replacement for the wife so this actually has to go.
