Look a little farther down the slip ther Jim. 10.69@143.3. Just driving it off the line like a grandma.
I think it might well do a 9 with the 12 year old 235DRs on it. That's the goal for this season I guess.
Oh, I also definitely want to run a 10 on some drifting tires. The 275/40-18 Achilles ATR Sport 2s I normally drive around on have excellent grip at the drag strip. I just slapped on the DRs the other night because I thought at Milan they put cars with DRs in staging lanes that get more runs than regular street tire cars.
Looking good Thad, nice to see your having lots of fun.

Thanks DokB! It's coming along. Lol
Update guys! Nick tells me that he has the 540 back on the road with the reinforced front diff mount, and the new clutch (holding all of the torque so far). Sounds like the beast lives again/still!
In other news, I made a GIF of the LRS at a drifting event held on a kart track a month ago or so:

That's cool^^^^^

The law does NOT determine "right" from "wrong". They are unrelated.
If you put cheap parts on your car, you will soon have a cheap parts car.
Looks like your ready to be the next Stig on Top Gear.
Hahaha, thanks guys! Fun stuff for sure.
Looking great Thad!!!!

Did you blow up the M52 ?

Thanks Chris! How's things?
Random comment for a tig welding bro: I just ordered a good pedal for my trusty AHP welder. I just may have to make up a turbo kit for a semi-local guy with an LS swapped 911 just so I can enjoy using the new pedal for a project. Lol
I did not, that thing was a beast as far as I could tell. Unfortunately, when I had it sitting on the floor to accept the TH400 adapter deal, it reminded me of an old slant six from a Plymouth Volare or something, and at that point I really didn't want to put that boat anchor back in the car.
The bimmer slant sixes are very impressive in a way, but doggone, they take up soooooo much space for their displacement.... Mine went in a dumpster as a core for one of my LS engines.
I really liked the sound of the M52.

As did I (in the turbo configuration)!! I sold the turbo kit plus DME I tuned for it and the 3" aluminum exhaust I made for it, to another guy who drifts around here. With that kit plus some S52 cams and an M50 intake manifold, his car sounds even better! One of my favorite sounding cars, period. I don't know if this goofy video will work, but here is a sample clip of it:
Interestingly, after selling that turbo kit and the adapter setup I was going to use to run the TH400 trans on it, I probably paid for my LS twin turbo setup. At this point I really don't plan to mess with anything but LSes, until the next (better) bang for the buck comes along. They are so simple, and make so much power so cheaply and easily, they suck you in. Lol
Hey Thad I got a new phone and lost your contact in WA. You should still have mine tho so if you send me a message I should be able to save your info.
First truly hard RIP I've done in a while. Car sat on jack stands longer than I would've liked after breaking the front diff mount. However she still lives and I'm happy to be driving her regularly again.

We need some more exterior music from the beast Nick! Especially now that is has nearly no exhaust on it..
It occurred to me recently that Nick has been ripping on the Clutchnet single disc clutch for a while now, at higher torque levels than most or anyone else on this forum is using, so I asked him for a status report. He said the sucker is gripping like mad, and for the most part has acceptable manners.
This is an interesting point, since the alternative (UUC twin disc) costs around 3x as much. Hopefully Nick will check in here and flesh out the topic some more.
Has Nick (or you) had your baby on a dyno yet?
He hasn't had it back on a dyno. When I had it on the dyno, the clutch couldn't cope with the torque in 4th gear, nor could it cope with all of the boost. I think it did 475 wheel HP in 3rd gear at somewhere around 15# IIRC?
The question mark now that Nick has a good clutch is whether he can unseat Chris' 120 trap speed as the standard. With a clutch switch on the car, he could set it up to be able to launch with boost, and then flat foot shift it. Being able to stay in boost through the entire quarter mile, rather than having to build and rebuild boost for each gear should make a big difference...
