My 2014 Z4 28is has heated seats with three levels. The high setting will boil blood. The low setting is barely tolerable, about equivalent to others cars of mine with heated seats at the highest level. Dealer said basically, eh, it is what it is.
Any similar experiences?
Any fixes?
1 is too hot, 2 & 3 are impossible and that's with the roof down on a frosty December day in England.
I have a 2011 Z4 and have tried mine once and that is not the case for me. Put my drivers seat on high and seemed to be as expected. I did not try the other two settings yet as I was just testing it out.
I called BMW USA yesterday about this issue and the gal said it should not be so hot as to be unusable. She made an appointment with my dealer and I took it in today.
Dealer today said this higher temp is factory intended for driving with the top down in cooler weather. Nice thought. Lousy execution. They should have tried it themselves before mandating it.
That also begs the question, "Shouldn't there be a different controller/programming for sedans that is not so hot that could be applied to convertibles if desired?" As is, this is a pretty aggravating, expensive accessory that does not work for me. There is nothing I've seen in the sales literature or manual that describes higher seat heating specs for a Z4. In the winter, my Z4 IS a sedan.
I wiil I'll let BMW USA know my feelings.
