Am I getting screwed? Insurance/coverage question

I have a 2015 335i lease that's on Continental Sport Contact 5SSR (225/40R18/Y). I pay for tire & wheel coverage. I brought the car in because two tires have been losing pressure. BMW's shop is telling me that the tires are bald and coming apart and that despite the fact two have nails in them causing the pressure issues, no warranty or coverage applies to any of this and I need to pay $1116 + tax for 4 new tires.

Am I getting shafted here? Am I really totally uncovered because of the tread even though there are nails in the tires? I've read Continental has their own warranty too that's ignored sometime, but I haven't brought that up yet.

    Thank you.

there is probably mileage or thread wear stipulation in your protection program. you'd have to go thru the terms to know for sure. do the tires look worn out?

Yea they're saying it's a thread wear stipulation.. and they are bald yea. The tire & wear coverage seems worthless with all these stipulations. Continental has their own warranty against hazards yet I'm paying for this extra coverage for no reason too. But o'well, live and learn I guess.

they have to stip that. Otherwise if my tire wears out with use all I have to do is put a nail in it and demand new ones from the dealership

Tire & Wheel Protection Policies are usually worthless. Lots of cost for very little coverage on something that wears out. Never purchased one after looking at the "stipulations" because the stipulations make everything out to be a non covered issue.
