Wow!
You killed it! I'd love to see some iDrive integration videos. That amazes me.

Nice detail with the Volvo moose shirt, LoL!

BUILD thread <------
Thanks! I have a video of startup on my instagram RVAE38.
Had I known he was going to take a pic of me I would have likely worn my BC forged shirt and showered. But I do love my prancing moose shirt. My wife has one too and looks way better than I do in it
Here are my favorite photos from the shoot. All photos by Mike Lee.
This is a pretty sexy build...Love the Color combo...Nice attention to detail...

Ordered a smaller pulley and belt. My friend is going to cut the exhaust right before the mufflers and add V-bands. Then he will weld the other flange to a straight pipe and also add flanges to the stock pipes so I can install either whenever I want.
Sick build, top notch execution all around. I'm on the fence about what do with my black '01 740i. I've already done a lot to get it to where I want it to be as a DD, time and money-wise, but your car is basically my Nirvana from here. 6-speed, S62, caramel redye, latest iDrive and different wheels. BUT: the number I have in my head that I think you spent (at least) on getting there - I'm not so sure I want to go there. I've got this idea of an E30 S54 build as a 2nd car stuck in my head... Decisions decisions. Since you finished it, are you still enjoying it as much as early on or has the excitement over this faded and you find yourself thinking "maybe I could twin-turbo her...?" :-)
Thanks!!
I am finally ready to make some small changes but haven't done them yet. I got the smaller pulley but have not installed it nor have I had my friend remove the mufflers yet. Other than that, yes I am still thoroughly pleased with the car. I have considered letting it go but only when I haven't driven it for a few weeks. And also only because I am starting another build project as well (Nissan). I drove it to work twice this week and the car is wonderful.
I spent a whole lot of money on this build but only because I wanted everything perfect. You could build a similar car for about half of what I paid if you don't need the new engine and supercharger. My S62 was triple what a low mileage used one would run you.
I can tell you that even the stock S62/6 speed in the E38 is an outstanding combo. It really should have been offered as an M7 IMO.
I have no doubt about it! I'd want a rebuilt motor, too though - at the very least the Vanos, chains, maybe the rod bearings etc. while its out of the car - as we did on my M62. I got the UUC sway bar in the back, as well, love how planted she corners.
Did you have your old center console reupholstered with leather or where did you get a SWB leather one from Europe? Also, let me shoot you a PM, I'd like to find out what the redye ran you. Congrats again, this has to be the ultimate sport E38.
The console is from a 750. It used to be black. There is no difference in length between swb and lwb.
I installed the new smaller 92mm supercharger pulley and the new coolant reservoir. Noticeable increase in performance!
Beautiful car

This is a great project and well executed and documented. The e38 is a dank fine chassis for a larger car and with a supercharged s62 makes it all the more special. The smaller pulley will make a nice difference but belt grip can be an issue. U have to set it up tight as slipping belts are ok fun and braking them is even worse.
How does go without any intercooling (unless I missed it). I found my 540i would run great initially but not so good when in traffic or after some bursts of acceleration. The front mounted intercooler that I had fitted makes a massive difference and power is consistent. Perhaps as an upgrade this would be worth considering. In the e34 chassis it’s very difficult to install one. Perhaps the e38 front space is better. Also the corugated inlet pipe could be improved on.
Love the wheels and the interior. Nice place to spend time. Looking forward to reading some further updates.

Thank you. No intercooler but I have been considering it. I have never had any trouble even in the summer months though.
I still can't quite believe how clean this car/build is, and how perfect the stance is. All very beautiful!
Can you let us know what nissan car you will be working on? I'm also a big fan of nissan cars.
Thanks

Perhaps some water / meth injection. One chap from here in Melbourne Australia made some good gains from this with his supercharged s62 m5 Only problem is the water meth mix is a resource I have to replenish where the intercooler is there regardless.

I thought about it but don't want the hassle. It's plenty fast now and no temp issues.

The newest issue of Performance BMW was released in the UK today. Here are the pics the photographer took. I haven't seen the article yet and we won't get the issue here in the states for a bit. I took some photos that day as well and will post those next. Yes, I know the HP number is wrong and I tried explaining that as well as giving them my last dyno number before upgrading to a 92mm pulley but they still estimated crank HP as if I had free flowing exhaust.
Such a beautiful car. By far my favorite body style BMW has made. Very well done sir.
