    In the Market for a V8 M

Well, seeing that there are only three posts in this entire forum.....I may be in the wrong place. Nevertheless, i am trying to find out what i need to know when buying a used E92 M? I would like to add a V8 M to the stable. What do i need to look out for....suggestions?

    Thanks in advance

    William

If your M3 doesn’t have 3 pedals and 2 doors, I would really consider contacting BMW to confirm the authenticity of your incorrectly badged mid-sized family sedan.

First... I'd make sure the bearings were replaced. They are known to go on these cars. Second, make sure you are up for the maintenance... it gets very costly. Are you looking at a DCT car or a manual? DCTs are faster, manuals mean the previous owner could have destroyed the clutch and half-shafts as they were prone to wheel hop.
Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by hundreds of engineers that get paid thousands of dollars for something you bought at Pep Boys because your buddy who doesn't have a job told you it was 'better'?!?

    thanks

It's a great car... I had two of them and '08 and when I got tired of the two doors, I traded it for a '13 sedan. The sound that car used to make was awesome.

    picked up a dream find...no nav, no i drive, pure M. 2013 E92, 47k on the odometer.

I had to get one of the last NA M cars, without the western fatboy items.

Are you going to do anything to it?

    man, thats a tough question.

i have a heavily modded e36, probably a tad bit faster than the E92. With that said, the E92 already has some tasteful upgrades, Dinan Stage 1 software, Dinan Exhaust, Dinan CF intake and High flow filter, and Dinan under drive pulleys. I re-badged, clay bar-ed, fine cut, polished, and waxed over the holiday weekend.

Short answer, no, nothing i would consider a real mod (motor work). Suspension is solid, exterior is EXACTLY the color i wanted, interior is great, Wheels are perfect!, stance is perfect, So no.

    maybe 5 - 8 years from now, we'll see.

Nice to not be tempted by mods! I had a Corolla that was like that, perfect as is, but it came with a re-built engine so I guess that's sort of cheating.

I got bored with my 08M3's power. Adding all the bolt on mods really wakes the car up even though they add only about 15% power.
