    2007 X5 4.8i Turbo

    Hello all,

I am completely new to this forum so please forgive me for being a noob. Anyways, I am 16 and I am currently driving a 2007 BMW X5 4.8i. This car, or truck, was passed down to me from my parents. They allow me to do whatever I want with the car.

I really want to upgrade the car internally for better performance. I have noticed that after the 2010 E70 X5 update, the engines feature a turbo charger. The 5.0i does 0-60 in a much faster 5.4 sec compared to the 6.0 sec on my BMW. I was wondering if it is possible to turbo-charge the engine and if it would be expensive.

I may do it with a neighbor who owns a car shop in Torrance, CA.

    Thanks.

Yep, the TT V8 from BMW is a real POS so it will blow up either way.

lol i didnt know they sucked, i just knew the likely hood of a 16year old turboing a x5 is almost 0, so he might as well have an obtainable goal lol

lol the TT V8's suck... re-reading his post.. he's got the NA 4.8 (X5is) which should be good to go except for the PCV issue that makes them huff the blues.

    Spray FTW!

And don't forget the valve stem seal issues the N62 has! Very expensive repair.

...and no way to feasibly turbo this for anybody but the strongest of DIYers.

And to think I used to consider my first car pretty quick at like a 8.2 second 0-60 time when speedshifting the thing for all it was worth...

No shit. I had a 1986 pontiac bonneville and a $500 jeep. On my first date with my wife one of the shocks fell off my jeep lol. I bought my E30 in my senior year and hooned the piss out of it all over.

Better off to start saving for the valley tube/rear cover, and all the timing cover/vcgasket leaks! And as previously stated, the valve stem seals unless you just really don't like mosquitoes.
Back into a BMW, this time a track rat....and it won't be BMW powered and no, not a V8 either!
Couldn't help myself, boosted e36 m52 street car in progress also!

    N62 is bad mojo.

Turbo is going to be near to impossible.

Nitrous? Sure but also NOx gets the lifetime award for "most likely to have a young driver spin off the road and smash into things".

And just... N62... not good. Although maybe spraying a ton of Nox and meth through the thing will at least keep it de-carboned... But won't help the crappy valvetrain / valvetronic issues they tend to have...

I had a 1984 accord auto for a first car. I plead the 5th, but yes lambo to teens.
