Hi all , just taken delivery of my lovely M240i Estoril blue auto ... any tips on running in the engine ? Ive put 600 miles on the clock and haven't taken it over 4500 revs but I can't wait to open it up properly.
Also just wondered if anyone can advise on engine temp indication as there is no engine temp gage on the dash !! How do you know when the car is actually up to running temp ?
any other tips greatly received.
does anyone know where to get the carbon front splitter at a decent price and a perfect fit ?
Cheers all.
Oh and one more thing please if I may , they say that no oil change is required until the first service but that's not for over 18k miles according to the dash!
I am used to doing a first oil change after 1500 miles on new cars in the past. Surely that would be reasonable or does it just not work like that these days ?

Hi Rob. Like you I have a new M240i. Same color. I followed the "break in" "run up" parameters ( 1200 miles, 4500 max rpm, keep it under 100 mph). Then I took it in for an oil/filter change. The dealer/service people were great but kept asking me why I had brought in my new car for an oil change. I just told them I was "old school". Best $120 bucks I ever spent. Now I can sleep at night not worried about "recommended 10,000 mile service intervals". Just picked it up an hour ago. Ready to drive The other 8800 miles then BMW CAN PAY FOR THE NEXT OIL CHANGE. Great car so far. Enjoy yours.
i just got mine. i ordered the black on red interior 6 speed manual only put about 180 miles on its so far on about 3 days. been driving it very mellow and keep the revs very low although its been very hard. id like to see some pics hope fully ill get around to posting some to
I will keep mine under 3K RPM for the first 500 miles (was the break-in procedure w/ my C7) and will likely follow the manual (under 4500 RPM) for the rest of the break-in period of 1200 miles. Getting close to the 500 mile mark now). Absolutely love my estoril blue M240i.
