    Ftp glass or polycarbonate

    As per the title really folks

    Working on restoring a pair of these back to their former glory.

    They are made of glass - and strangely enough we were discussing the same thing on the .co.uk sister site. Start by cleaning up the inner parts:

    ....and then use lacquer and 800-grit paper to get rid of pitting on the front of the glass - it usually takes a couple of coats to look good again.

    Is it possible to get the FTP glass somewhere?
    I have one plinker cracked and really would want to fix them.

    Andre, If the FTP has a rock chip like a windshield, you might try a chip repair like a windshield. Before i got new FTPs I had a chip done and it greatly reduced the visibility just like happens on a successful windshield repair. It is still there, but the resin fills the chip and makes it much less noticeable. Just a thought.

    ...smart tip..... lots off ftp's have cracks, glass is not seperatly available and the unit pretty expensive.....i have a couple spares (with cracks), worth a try (i would just go to a good windshield repair company and let hem do it).

    I would suggest putting some Lamin-x or similar on the strip lights and the headlights. Will prevebt this sort of thing.
