Dude... this is so badass!
Just curious, did you take much of a look at the stock rear end (or still have it)? I'm looking for some insight on how easy it would be to fab in a Ford 8.8 IRS carrier....
I still have it sitting in the garage.
so awesome, cant wait to see more!

I built a 2000 Miata serveral years ago using a Ford 302 and a T'Bird IRS. They used two different in that model - a 7.5 and a 8.8, there were LDS units in both sizes. I used the 7.5 figuring it was enough for my needs. Several others did use the 8.8 but that required moving shock perches, etc for clearances.
here is an 8.8 in another Miata but he has a rear mounted turbo with LSx over 700 rwh...
here is my application with 7.5...

Thanks, Hopefully I'll get the motor dropped in for the final time this weekend. I pulled the ABS module out last night and had to trim some of the metal around the brake booster. I'm gonna roll with no ABS. just bypass it and put in a proportioning valve and should be good to go.

The wheels look so unsuspecting. Neat build.

Awesome job!
I assumed there would be a lot more sheet metal work necessary! How much modification are you going to have to do to the rear seats?
Cool project! Here is my e30 with a 9 inch and 4 link if you haven't seen. I have a turbo m52 in it and had a t56 magnum but am building a transbrake th400 for it now. Should go 8's pretty easy

I did go through your build when i was searching to see if anyone had put a stright axle in one before. i did not want to do a complete backhalf because i want to retain the back seats or at least make it look like they are functional. seeing your build boosted me confidence that i could do an 8.8.
i was able to mess with it a little tonight. i finished getting the hot side mocked and tacked up.
i got the front bumper in today so i can try and get the intercooler and radiator fit in there.
