Killer package.... some pun intended.
Looks excellent. It will be nice having that piece of mind with the forged pistons and rods. I'm going to run the Gen IV stuff to start off with and even though I'm going to start off extremely conservative, it still makes me nervous. I know how fragile these pistons and rods can be. One tuning mishap and ... well yeah.
What cam did you end up using?
BTR stage 2 kit, I also pryed my wallet open for some ARP head studs. $350 retail is steep though. After military discount I got them for $270.
I don't even plan on pulling the heads. Stab in the cam and slap in the springs and tune for about >800 flywheel hp on e85. A buddy's shop offered to let me rent his engine dyno cell for a day for a 100 bucks so we can get it dialed before it goes in the car. So that will be nice.
You should at least put some lifters in it too.
Nice. I have the same box, yet to install it. Haven't had a need yet.
sorry for the quality the lifeproof box is not ideal for sound and video. but its running!

Right on! It's super quiet too!
Outstanding sir!! I had to chuckle at that old school R4 AC compressor.....I'll be keeping that in mind as I'm planning my swap. Do you have the AC hooked up yet?
progress has been very little lately I had a few other projects I had to do but I finally got my digital dash in and was able to get it fit into the ABS plastic. just need to figure out how I am going to mount the plastic panel in there. I'm thinking either just a few black head Phillip's screws or with some good Velcro.
always trying to make it lighter and faster

well I finally took it for the first test drive. the Holley HP really gives you a feeling like you could just lay into it. it drives very smooth and cruises better than I thought it would. I'm still concerned about it overheating with that fan but we will see.
now I need to do some research on how to customize the digital dash.
I set the covers on it for fun and they surprisingly look pretty odd on there. I need another for the other side now.
not impressed with the bumper fitment but its not a show car so I don't really care at this point.
Awesome! I planned on the same thing with the bmw covers. Looks stealthy.
Any updates??
I just discovered this thread and all I can say is, HOLY SHIT! That thing is bad ass.
ASE and BMW Master Certified Technician
wow its been a while since I have been on here.
updates,
car is running and driving,
I had lifted a head. I think I didn't torque it all the way so this time I got a way better torque wrench on it and I know its good now. also I switched from LS9 gaskets to some good LJMS cometic gaskets built for the 5.3. I also had the heads ported.
last time I was on the dyno I believe the head was lifting pushing water in the cylinder and the exhaust may have been restricting it but I was only able to pull it to 5300. but it bade 700 RWHP@ 5300 on 18PSI. now I also put on a boost actuated exhaust cutout on it too.
it goes back on the dyno Thursday. maybe ill update in 3 months lol.
Sounds like a fun ride!!! Get some dyno videos. Pretty please!!
I'm dying for some updates!!
well here are some updates. I lifted the same head again. same head but I put it on the other side of the motor. I had them both resurfaced and still did it.
I tore it all down. sent the block to be resurfaced and I bought some trickflow 225 heads for it in November and they are finally getting here tomorrow.
the only thing I can figure was the back wheel on the turbo was too small causing too much backpressure. so I decided to put 2 smaller turbos on it.
I have been working on other customer cars while I have been waiting on my heads also recovering from back surgery.
I finially pulled the car back in the shop and finished the anti-roll bar I started a while back. it takes forever to do anything to this car cause I cant really go on summit and buy parts I have to make them all.
I also replaced all my end links that had bushings with heim joints. then I had to make spacers for them.

I did not see that coming. Would you be interested in selling your previous kit?
This is going to be epic! There should be enough power to twist that body in half! Keep up the good work!
