///dean's turbo build and dyno thread: GT35R/E85/Stock Comp, 610whp/571wtq

Below is the latest progress on my turbo build, I've started collecting parts since early 2015 and have finally gotten to this point. The run below is at 13psi (E85) making 540whp/488wtq on a Dynojet, once I get the eBoost2 configured I'll up it to ~16. Update 12/12/16: Turned up to 18psi and made 610whp/571wtq. See post #17 below for dyno sheet etc.

I'm not so active on BFC as of late posting most of my progress on Instagram, feel free to give me a follow!: @re36tro

Not sure if I want to test drive that beast. Mines gonna feel really slow if I do.

Wow, I'd take the blame for copying your build if I knew you were doing it... mine's not finished but I have the EXACT same parts list, E85 and all. I was hoping for 550-600whp at 25psi or so, your results are very encouraging at nearly 10psi less! Great job!

30whp not much of a difference, but the R888's you may feel

Thanks! Ya, if you're talking exact then your goals are well within reach. I may turn it up to ~16-17 soon but probably no higher. I'm still on a stock bottom end.

I'm not sure you have to worry about the stock bottom on E85 as long as your tune is good... the only warning I've gotten is that the GT35R spools so fast that even on a good tune, the rods are susceptible to bending over time (like several thousands of miles of repeated beating). And we're talking gradual bending, not snapping in half.. detonation does that and if your tune is good you shouldn't have that to worry about.

If the ultimate plan is to build the bottom end (someday)... I'd let her rip... check the compression on occasion and perhaps measure/compare piston height through a spark plug hole. If you were to catch it early, what would keep someone from just throwing a set of rods and bearings in it if the pistons/walls still look good.... that's not very expensive and can be done in your garage.

    Very nice!

    What hot side?

This is not me at disrespectful; but I'm shocked that there is not more torque with stock compression and 13psi with e85.

If you have a pic of that dyno graph with the horsepower axis visible that'd be great too.. just easier to see where it's hitting its marks.

I actually thought the same but as I'm new to this, my guess is as good as yours.

Just start from 0 and increment by 50 per division. Same goes for the Z axis. These are all pics from my phone to Instagram thus reason for size reduction.

Probably really good actually since it will only help the rods/block.

Are you using stock fuel lines/filter on this setup?

Stock lines but I did need a -6 to push lock converter from the Rally Road fuel rail to stock lines. For filter I'm using a Radium Engineering 12 micron.

Took me 21 psi to do that on 93 pump with GT3582R. Good job. Does the turbo have more in it? I did not really think so.

To be honest it might have more...the HP plots seem to still be going strong at 18psi but that's a lot further than i was planning/expecting on going on stock internals. I dialed it down after this one run. I will probably boost no more than 16psi which should be in the 560whp/520wtq range.

Ya, I thought it would of tapped out. Your GT35R unit is still running strong.

    Really impressive dude.
Nice responsive 600whp system, nice and simple.

My $0.03 is to top it out at 21-22#'s and be happy. Stop there ! Don't get greedy.

Wow...22psi? That would probably put me about 670whp/630wtq (assuming things hold up). I was under the impression the general (yet aggressive) rule of thumb for stock internals was to limit under 550wtq. I actually was nervous to hit those numbers at 18 and will probably go no higher than 16.

You won't make 670 with a 35r. Your already past the limit of those rods anyway. I ran that kit to 23-24# on a stock M52, and many others run up to 21-22# on stock internals. As long as tuning is good. But if you want to play it safe, keep it lower. You have e85 ?

Lol your right, but still, i didnt window the block until 34-35lbs, 28-29psi felt great and didnt break, going built now and seeing where I end up, ill be haopy with the car in the 750-800 range, it was dead reliable at 600-650whp on stock internals, part of me wishes I kept it at that level.
