I tried searching...my 245/45/17's are rubbing in the rear bad. I just had BBS RC090's put on *have Bilstein pro kit) and I just want to know what size tire will fit without rubbing?
Thank you in advance, B

Thank you, how much smaller would the sidewall be on a 17x8 rim ?

also would it be ok to go with a 245/35/17 ?
I would not run a 245/35R17. The tires are way too short. You would end up with a gap in the fender well. Plus there are very few tires in that size.
Are these RC090 with proper offset for an E36 or Style 5 from an E39 that have the wrong offset for an E36. If the former, run 235/40/17 or 245/40/17. If the latter, you will have to stretch 205/50/17 or maybe 215/50/17.
I have Style 5 from an E39 that have the wrong offset for an E36....so I take it I will have to stretch 205/50/17 or maybe 215/50/17 will just any tire shop put these on ?
Probably. Your offset pushes the wheel 20mm closer to the fender, so you need tires about 40mm narrower, which puts you around 205. Id try to fit the most tire you can. Search for style 5 e36 threads and you should be able to find what others have done. If you tilt the wheels in with more negative camber, you can fit more tire, or if you jack up the ride height.
I would try to run a 225/45R17 with the 20mm offset wheel. To run a 205/50R17 you need to have a wheel no wider than a 17X7.5.
This will be like running a 255 on an ET40 wheel. Must roll the rear arches, cannot lower too much, more negative camber helps. But with tbe 225, you wont lose as much traction as with a 205 or 215 compared to a stock M3.
