Hey guys
Before my recently sold e92 335i i had a 2000 M5 that I loved and still regret selling.
That being said I'm back in an E39. I always loved the body lines and I really missed 4 doors.
I already restored the faded headlights myself and got all new rubber floor mats and a few other bits. I trimmed the front license plate mount so it looks cleaner. I got the car for a steal and it only had 120k on the clock. I still have to fix the mean seat lean both front seats have and I'm looking into a 2003 Business CD player upgrade so I can swap in an AUX cord and have some more music options.
Im buying coilovers tomorrow and I'm excited to start my build.
Here is my 2002 530i 5 Speed!!!
I am getting a lot of inspiration from BrysonB who had a similar set up.
I bought some style 5s and didnt like how small they looked so I dont know if I'm keeping them or not. They are gold but missing center caps. The search for some wheels begins. Gotta love that 74.1 hub. LMK what you think. I love this car so far.
My old M5
Sorry man, I just don't get the bloated stancetard look with wide rims and scrawny tires.... But hey, it is your car after all, no offense.
Set the controls for the heart of the sun
Interesting that you chose the 530 after having the 335i and M5. Anyway's nice find love white BMWs. Perhaps if you wanted you can send out your Style 5s for a conversion to 18".

Nice. I would paint that trim black. Alp white with black trim looks great imho.
If you don't like Style 5 mesh, maybe some Style 37's or 18" Style 42s (if you can find them) - I'm thinking of....can't remember the user but he has prob one of my fav 530's on here...and he picked up an M5. GA guy.....asian.....forget his name someone will know and maybe he will chime in....
That's narvin, remember him when I had my M. I will most likely get another one in the future.
I like the shadow line trim but I also like the all white look. Was looking into am M5 bumper but I decided to keep the stock one. I don't want to go bigger than 18 inch rims.

YES, Carlova. His car is clean and ride height is nice; nothing sticking out, nothing stretched, no camber stuffffff.
Hi,
Welcome to the Alpine White club!
So many BMW enthusiasts said to me to colour code the door and bumper strips in black but of course, I didn't and kept them as is! I chose instead to change other visual aspects to black instead!
Prior to modifying anything on my car, it was a non sport as the Police don't choose Sport models and looked exactly like yours does at the front. You'll need to look around to see what lip spoilers you can fit if you do decide on one! as for wheel choice, do something different from the usual OEM choices.. please!
Cheers, Dennis!
I would have expected that the Po-po in the UK would specify some form of heavy-duty suspension. The police in the Colonies have special models with H-D suspension, and other HD components, such as higher-capacity electrical systems, brakes, et al. They are commonly known as Police Interceptors, or Police Pursuit.

Welcome back. Very nice job on the headlight lens restore. Did you finish them with clear-coat after the polish?

Hi,
Stancypants - Cheers for the kind words about my car, it's a daily driver so plenty of little stone chips, small dents and scratches all over, but it still looks good for 275K mile paint! I have a few 3 piece wheel sets in addition to my 4 sets of Hartge's which are all in various stages of refinishing and building and hope to have the first set on soon'ish ! I'll then re-purpose one set of my Hartge 1 piece wheels to a winter wheel setup.
Plenty of good wheel choices for the E39 in 2/3 piece configuration, what kind of styles do you prefer?
Edjack - My Touring didn't have the airbag suspension in the rear, so springs/shocks all round. I do know an enthusiast who works at a specialist that prepares Police Vehicles for active duty and got all sorts of information from him. Given that my car was a normal 'Motorway Vehicle' and would spend 95% of it's time running up and down motorways, it didn't need any upgraded components, unless I do have HD bushes at the rear - I couldn't tell as ex Police cars don't come with any information detailing what components/parts have been changed when they're decomissioned and sold off. All I got and understand to this day is all they come with, is the service booklet all stamped every month - which is the equivalent of an inspection 2 from BMW. I also know that whatever needs changing is done and anything that comes in pairs, both are changed even if one component looks fine. I've had my car for just over a decade now and I'm renewing things now - new engine mounts, front bushes etc so I've had an excellent run really given my car is lowered too. I do know that other Police cars are indeed given HD suspension and tougher components where required - definitely the armed response units with all the weight they lug around have uprated suspension.
Cheers, Dennis!
Clean 530! Congrats on being back in the fold! (We always come back....)

I prefer stepped lipp and definetly want a staggered look. I had a really nice set of rebuilt Work VSXX on my e39 M5 with super aggressive offsets that fit very well. You can fit huge wheels under our wheel wells!
Here are some of my old wheels I put together when I had my e34, when I used to have a problem hoarding wheels. It becomes a bad addiction quick! This is my bed room lol.
Picked up my coilovers yesterday so now the search for wheels really begins. I either want stock M5 wheels or M Parallel wheels for now until I save up for something baller.
Yessir that was me in my prime! I peaked too soon lol. That was a whole 2 cars ago but I sure do miss her all the time. That V8 is still the sexiest sounding stock exhaust iver ever heard. I'm pretty sure I follow you on Instagram too bro. Your cars looking cleaner than ever too btw! Nice to see you around again.
Yeah I knew I would eventually. I really wanted a touring but i didnt wanna jump on that bandwagon. Plus all the ones around here are beat.

Good and bad news...
Bad news is the Megan front coilovers wouldn't fit for some reason so I had to return them to the guy I got them from. Good thing he's cool and accepted it back.
Good news is I sold my style 5 wheels so I can use that towards better coils. I like BCs had them on my M5 no complaints. I just gotta lower this thing. This ride height is bothering me so bad.

Ordered a MAY 03 business CD player and AUX cord. Found one last one on ebay and had to grab it.
I am contemplating doing a whole shadowline trim swap, on ECS its all around 250 and it really would give the car some contrast.
UPDATE
Went with new BC Coils and glad I did I love these things going a bit lower in the front after it all settles but its good for now.
Found an awesome deal on some local M Pars for sale and after spending a whole day cleaning them they came out very clean and have barely and marks. They are made for e38s so I had to get some adapters/spacers. 15mm in front and 20mm in the rear.
M Parallel Specs
18x8 +13 (after spacer -2)
18x9.5 +25 (after spacer +5)
in the front I have 225/40/18 tire
in the rear I have 255/35/18 tire
I am loving the new look and fitment and I think I want a bigger tire in the rear after looking at even though i rub with 3 people in it but I can live with it for now. More low in the front for sure.

Looks fantastic!
More pictures?
Thanks!

Looking for an E39 belly pan , passenger front inner fender liner …
I would expect UK police option to be a bit more reserved, remember over there they for the most part don't even carry guns. Not to mention it's a close to 150MPH car just stock.
Anyway, I, like others see too much white. I don't even like the body color trim we got over here on facelift cars. White especially cries out for shadowline. Regardless, it's your car, make it look like you want it, not like I like it!

Looks great in alpine, very rare on e39's here, I guess white peaked a few years later tho, cuz every new car is white now it seems. 37's, look fab on the e39, can't wait for spring so I can put mine on. Looking at yours make me realize that I have to lower mine some aswell, but I'll go the shocks-and-springs route.
Here's mine (01, 530/5), and I agree on the style 5's, they look awesome, but really need to be wider, I could live with 17" and chunky tyres, (which they aren't in the pics btw, 225 winters all around), but 8" wide in the rear is too narrow, so they will be sold.

Man! alpine white is really an awesome color!
thanks for the feedback guys.
I need a bigger rear tire. Right now its 255/35/18, I remember putting a 285/35 on my M5 previously so I'm thinking maybe going 275 for now. Right now I have snow tires in the front and summers in the rear so I'm thinking about some Continental DWS for the rears to help with upcoming weather in MD.
Still going to go lower all around. Next up is fixing my seat lean issue. Anyone have some tan front seats for sale?
