After reading several posts on the issue of the ill designed CCV system on our M60 motors, will the cover/gasket and vent pipe/o-ring from an M62 intake be an easy bolt-on for an existing M60 intake setup?

After reading all the "sky is falling" posts, I want to be pro-active if indeed this CCV system on the M60 can cause the earth to stop rotating on it's axis and cause water to flow up-hill

There is no problem with the crankcase ventilation on the M60 - sure, the PCV pops now and again, but they last for years. The only major problems with the system are caused by inept removal of the inlet manifold or a build-up of gunk in the OSV due to over-extended oil changes with cheap oil. The addition of a gas-mixing chamber on the M62 inlet manifold helps a little bit with sharing the oil-vapour between the cylinders, but even that is not much of a problem with a fully working CCV system. FWIW, the M62 CCV is no better as it has a failure rate of 50k miles or so.
I drove a 1998, E38, M62 from new to 178k miles and the most often replaced parts were the intake manifold profile gaskets, the CCV and valve cover gasket. Oh yes, there was the water pump that would also need replacing more often than anything else.
The easiest test for a failed CCV is to lift the oil filler cap just enough to break the seal while the engine is idling. The spec is something like 6" of H2O so it is fairly easy to lift the cap and test the vacuum then the CCV is operating correctly, but when the CCV has failed it is very hard to lift the cap and the air rushing in will make a whoosh sound since the crankcase is under full intake vacuum!!

I realize that this is an old thread, but for anyone who comes across it there is another HUGE reason to do this swap - when the cyclone valve fails in an M60 it is a major PIA to change it out, particularly when considering that the M60 double row timing chain and guides have perhaps 5x the lifespan of the single row chain and plastic hoop guide in the M62. Since you can pretty much count on doing the chain and guides every 100k on the M62, changing the cyclone valve while you're at it should be a no-brainer.
