    128i brake pads and rotors

Hey everyone, my 128i is in desperate need of new pads and rotors front and rear. My professional Indy shop quoted me about $800 including a brake fluid flush. Being in college and having to pay a $950 traffic ticket next week, I'm a little tight on money. My dads friend is a mechanic who said he can do it all for 300 but he's not exactly the best mechanic of all time. So my question is; do BMW brakes need to be done by professionals or can anyone with even basic knowledge do it? And no, I don't have the equipment or time to do it on my own otherwise I'd love to. Thank you

Your dad's friend will be fine. It is really not that hard. But, $300 sounds cheap for pads and rotors front and rear. I would want to know - "what pads and what rotors".
