Thanks! Are you still around here suffering the frigid cold, or are you back in Florida as listed in your location?
broken camberarms.jpgI see that you can weld. It would be a good Idea to pull your camber arms off and reinforce the pieces circled. I've seen 3 different ebay arms break at the clevis while drifting. You could remake the c piece with thicker metal or weld some plate onto it to beef it up.
Thanks, I'll take a look at them in the spring before I hit an event.
Did the clevis material itself break, or was it the weld where the threaded rod is attached to the clevis material? I can see that being a natural break point the way they are attached.
yea pix? I have a set of those and don't want to snap them lol.

Wow, I'm surprised that the clevis material would break... I'll give mine a good looking over next time I have a handy opportunity, and see if it looks like I need to be doing any reinforcing. You wouldn't happen to have access to any pics of those breaks would you? I'm guessing not, but it would be cool to see, especially to see where that clevis fatigued and broke.
Yea I'm not seeing how you can reinforce it any better.

compare them to the TMS one's and you'll see why they break.
Is that Turner Motorsports?

I think I can replicate that level of strength with a bit of my hackery.

Sorry guys I asked and they don't have pics. I'll take a picture of how they welded it back together next time I'm at my friends house.
the OE arms are literally made out of stamped sheet metal, yet oddly enough people run them all the time without shearing them in half
the pictured arms' clevis is made from 3mm formed steel plate and has a 18mm bolt with nearly 56mm of weld holding it to the plate. even accounting for the (probably) shitty chinese welds, short of wall taps and/or minor wrecks, i don't see why they would suddenly break on track
just remember, if the camber arm doesn't bend/break during a wreck your trailing arm/subframe will

The stock arm is also stronger where it mounts to the knuckle than the ebay ones. Neither of my friends who broke theirs even hit anything. That's the scary part. It's a great way to get that jdm camber you're looking for. This also broke his outer cv joint. broken camber arm.JPG
i dunno man, something tells me your friends made some curb/wall taps on those ebay arms and never told you about em, people have been running those for years with no issues

Well, nonetheless, I will be taking a good look at mine then next time I have a decent opportunity staring me in the face. Maybe the next time we have snow if I'm not in a hurry when I slap on the snow tires I'll take a peek at them. This car is a riot in the winter now that I replaced the blower motor resistor.
Some video of the awesomely horrible LRS doing its thing just popped up! Not one of my more exciting runs, but at least I didn't spin out on this one..

Watching this video reminded me that I want more power. Just ordered a turbo haha..
That was a cool little section.
What turbo did ya get? Spill the beans!

Won't manual swap. But will turbo. lol you're funny.

Fitting with my theme of slapping as much cheap eBay Chinese garbage as possible on this car, I got this one:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/131612722990...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
If that turbo isn't quite as responsive as I want, I will buy an even cheaper, even smaller one ...
I already have a much maligned $129 eBay turbo manifold (that actually looks much better quality than I expected), some Siemens Deka 80# injectors, and a TiAL 38 wastegate sitting on a shelf to go with the turbo.
But I'm forcing myself to get the 540 turbo project much closer to running before I get to play with the LRS much more. The 540 project is a chore, the LRS project is the reward haha.

Thank you sir! I still like turbos despite my hatred of clutches I've grown into.
Besides that, with enough power I won't need to kick the clutch so much, right? Lol

Yea but won't you fry the auto trans? Those things don't like heat IIRC.

Only one way to find out. So far it's been a champ, and I have this sitting in the garage waiting to be abused:
TH400.jpg
At this point it's sort of a race to see if I smoke the clutch or gearbox in the 540 mit turbo and put the th400 in that, or if the slushbox in the LRS gives up first and gets to try out a th400 swap kit from someguy2800.
More power to you man. Just don't fall into the perpetual build trap. So far you've managed it well though.
