Please help big trouble with 04 M3 convertible top

Hi everyone, I really need some help here with my convertible to as this is not a "usual" problem. This past weekend, I heard a "pop" when putting the top down and later in the evening when I went to close it, it would not shut all the way. It was 2-3" short of reaching the latch holes on the top of the windshield.

Like an idiot, I had my friend push the top down while I held the close button so the the top would latch into place. Afterwards, I noticed the passenger side was bowed and out of alignment. Now, I cannot get the top to retract and don't know how to get it repaired as most of the independent shops are stumped as I am.

Does anyone here here have any advice as to how I can get this repaired without consulting the dealer whom I'm sure won't be able to help as they will probably quote to replace the entire assembly.

I doubt you did any damage as I had the same issue but under different circumstances. My guess is that the pop you heard is a gear or cable.
