    Rear tires

Time to replace the original rear tires on my 2014 S28i Z4.

I will be driving the car this winter in Utah--not in snow, but on clear, perhaps wet roads and in below freezing temperatures. The OEM Bridgestone Potenzas (255/35R18) run flats are summer rated. I'm at ~18,000 miles. Fronts are good.

Should I stick with the OEM, or are there other good options out there?

I just got all 4 of mine replaced with Bridgestone DriveGuard All-Season Run-Flat tires (255/45RF17 91W) which come with a 50K mile manufacturer's warranty (and a 5 year road hazard warranty from Costco, as do all tires purchased from them) for a reasonable $685 all-in (includes tire installation, disposal fee here in CA, and nitrogen tire inflation). If they make them in the size you need, these are a great bang for your buck.

I put the same model tire (but size 255/35R18) on my rear axle three days ago. I've not had much time in the car since then to feel them out, but they are highly recommended. However, my two cost just over $600 OTD. Not cheap. Not many all-season run flat high speed options in that size.

What do you guys think of the Driveguard tire? I recently purchased an E85 and as part of the purchase the dealer put on new tires since the old ones were pretty worn. Drove the car with the mismatched worn runflats and it drove well with the usual runflat drive quality. After having the Drive guards installed (mind you I really didn't get a say in which tire they put on) the ride seems to be very floaty and loose. Is it just my unlucky experience with the tires or what. the E85 has 225/45/17.
