Here is my research on AGM Battery Replacement. All the below are workable and have the exact specifications and could be all made in the same factory. The Home Depot one is the exact brand too. The Pep Boys & advanced Auto one looks really good price.

You will have to register the battery after it is installed and if the original battery is a lead acid and you install an agm you might have to update the software for it
Some additional options!! also added the Exide Battery Specification sheet for reference.

I'm told the new battery, regardless of what kind or where it's replaced, MUST be (re) coded to the i-drive system for optimal performance.
Something a Dealership or Indy must do using their diagnostic tools.
Anyone replaced their battery at a BMW Dealership? I'm curious to how much it costs and what type of warranty, core charge, etc they have?
Buy the $130 Walmart battery, Carly ap, suitable iPhone/Android adapter and register/code it your self. You'll spend less then the dealer will charge and you'll have a powerful code reader for future diagnostics.

Whoever told you that is WRONG! If you replace the battery with a battery with the same specs, no coding is necessary. The trick is, generally an exact replacement is not available, so you go with something a little or even a lot different. The affordable Carly app and appliance is available to anybody to use to reregister the new battery to the new specs.

I've seen dealers charge up to $600 to replace a battery. And the warranty is no better than what AutoZone or Advanced Auto offer.Anyone replaced their battery at a BMW Dealership? I'm curious to how much it costs and what type of warranty, core charge, etc they have?

I just installed a new H8 EverStart Maxx battery from Walmart in my 2010 e61. I have CarlyBMW, so I thought this would be easy. However, I did not realize that I would also need a PhD in battery chemistry to complete this task! I cannot determine if my new battery is lead acid vs. AGM, let alone the AH rating. There's not much information on the battery label. Some scouring on the internet indicates the battery has a reserve capacity of 140 min and lead acid. I have seen various ways to "convert" from RC to AH, and they all yield different results. Anyone have any light to shed on this specific battery?
If possible, I'd return the lead-acid battery and exchange for the AGM one: https://www.walmart.com/ip/EverStart...up-h8/40647529
It has a pretty good warranty so I would not worry if you cannot off but want to return it. I have a Bosch agm in my 08 E61 535xi but don’t think agm is necessary.
Walmart battery (by Johnson Controls) is FLA....Flooded Lead Acid, not AGM.
My '10 E60 (5/09 build) was delivered with a FLA battery that lasted 7 years & 3 months. I had no reason to believe the 50% more expensive AGM battery would give me 50% longer life, so I stayed with the FLA. Since I was replacing an H8 with another H8, I simply renewed the previous registration, w/o changing AH rating.
