That sounds like a reasonable approach. But why would the mold change? Is t it just a change to the material used in the mold???

It comes down to how you cure the materials in the mould. Perhaps someone with more experience can tackle this answer or contradict me. I'm no expert.
For a plastic/rubber mould, the shape is filled in and left to harden/stiffen then pryed out.
For fiberglass, 2 halves are pressed together and the air evacuated to reduce air pockets then it too is pryed out. The moulds need a resurfacing before each application of a mould-release agent (every 15-20 pulls)
For a carbon fiber mould, 2 moulds are used and they deal with very different issues but alow for multiple pulls like the form moulds for polyethylene or polycarbonate but are expensive to build. The per unit cost would be around $500 each and not everyone wants a CF spoiler so we'll stay in the middle of the road with fiberglass. Easy to work with, sand, paint and repair if ever damaged.

That rear spoiler looks great. Count me in. Mine is the same color as yours, Orient Blue.
I'm down for one as well.
OK, I just paid Rick for his labor and materials... Fingers crossed for a finished spoiler by the 15th of Dec or sooner and I'll let Wagons Ho paint it up and install on my or one of his wagons once I receive it so we can all see how it looks.
Talked with JimLev about selling these in the forums and asked Kevlar about becoming a vendor. Things are moving forward. I'm done with requests for now. I only paid for 20 on this first pull but after that I'll set something up so anyone else can get one at the revised retail cost.
So all you guys who've said "I'm in" or words to the effect can expect a pm with a paypal account to place an order. (once we see the finished product)
The shipping will be a new thing for me to figure out. Being fiberglass the weight is an issue as is the shape of these things. I'll try to keep it to a minimum but packaged so as to minimize the risks of damage en route.
Cheers guys! You'll be hearing from me on this as progress occurs. Thanks again!

Just got an e39 touring, and am definitely interested in getting on this list!
Oops! I think that was wishful thinking when i wrote down 530iT, it's a 525iT. Very excited about it, its my first e39, and my first wagon!
Uh, ok, it's still an E39..... Well, my Touring is a 528, I still love it, I have a 540 and 530 sport, but I still love the 528, because it is a wagon, and it gets awesome gas mileage. Future plan is to swap out the slushbox transmission and the 2.8 for an S54 and 6 speed manual, and LSD out of an E46 M3 I think I'll love it a lot more then. The 525 should get even better mileage than the 528, enjoy the car for what it is.

BimmrMeUpSnotty, AquilaBMW - - - Thanks for the support.
ColtonBH, you and me both brother! Bimmermeupsnotty and I started this ball rolling in April of this year. It's harder than I thought and I wasn't prepared for the initial outlay of funds but I think we're doing it for all the right reasons.
I'll rethink that if bmw sues me into oblivion but for now, positive thoughts.

A few BMW part references all show bolted & glued yet nothing beyond that. So, does this mean the existing comes off? Or is there a way to add to existing? Anyone know with certainty???
