It's cool man. I'm as excited for your outcome as you are. I like your ideas.

You'll be back, it's bound to happen. I hope you'll be back anyway, we all do. Lurking if nothing else.

Heh, thanks. Unfortunately, my spoiler project is on hold for right now. Need to lay some fiberglass layers down on the hatch/rear windshield to get an accurate shape, but have been hesitant to do it on the car. Looking for a spare Touring rear windshield to do the work on...

    Waxed paper over the car?

Heh. Originally I was just going to tape the seams then lay down wax and some PVA mold release onto the body before laying fiberglass down on top of it. Problem is that the Touring gets driven daily by me or the wife for picking up the kids from school, so I can't currently afford any more downtime after the whole engine replacement debacle. So, I figure it better to hold off and just look for a rear windshield/hatch panel to do the work on...

what do you mean by these 3 will be different? will it be different than the next 5 or batch order?

They figured out 2 things. The sandwiched halves of the piece were leading to different cure rates throughout the piece. As you can see here, there's a hollowed out section which means that once the piece has cured, there's no movement in the sufrace from the bottom pulling in odd ways as it cured quicker than the top.

Part II, they used the rear hatch of an e39 wagon to verify fitment before bubble wrap and boxing (huge benifits from this step)

Straight from the box, laid on the rear hatch, they fit. With minimal sanding, I think even a novice could prep these and have them look passable.

A shop will have no problem at all.

I am happy to report that I will take any and all orders.

Please understand that in the beginning, it will be me taking orders till I have a number larger than 5 (these 3 will be different)
Once 5 or more are ordered, I'll place a small batch order. They'll ship to me and from me to you. Not efficient but that's how it needs to be for now.

I'm happy and confident that you will be too.

I meant that from now on, they'll arrive differently. These 3 I had recently were a proof of concept for the "fix" to the gullwing issue. So, they just sent me 3 as a showing of how they're different from before. From now on, they'll send me 5 at a time.

Confirmation that Slimbones aka Rick and his team didn't give up if I didn't. They are just as committed as I am/was to get these right. I'm very impressed.
It's taken longer than I ever expected but so far, I'm very happy with the end result.

Just received a pack of 6 spoilers of the revamped design.

You'll see me selling these on eBay and CL for more than here. Loyalty mang, loyalty.

Trying. I put it on hold while I'm trying to get dyno numbers on Jed's headers. I'm waiting on an alignment and exhaust work. Once that's done e39toys will be back on top of the pile.
    Short answer, yes.

Unfortunately I couldn't find anyone parting a wagon that wanted to sell to me. The big main panel on the hatch was $550!

Hey I just had to buy a whole lift gate to get the interior trim. Cheaper than new and local. But still looking for the three pieces that go around the interior of the rear window

That guy isn't parting any of the hatch parts unfortunately. As an aside, he said he has another wagon he might be parting - they're trying to decide if it's worth it to do the chain guides.

A new batch arrived today. All of these are the new interior oem exterior. The ones that fit right, the first time.

Lower prices to members here than on eBay and Craigslist.

    Ciao
