The weather is finally warming up here in the Northeast, and the 7 has been in hibernation since January. I still have items on my to-do list for this car.
To Do:
- Find a solution for my misfire at 5000+ RPM (suspecting clogged cats)
- Find out why coolant is slowly disappearing (oil is clean, compression is good, perhaps a small leak from somewhere when I did the valley pan? Coolant mixture is off?)
- Replace rear diff oil
- Drop oil pan at next change and inspect
- Install new valve covers (need powdercoating)
- Get a full alignment
May Do:
- Replace front kidney grills with OEM (currently aftermarket and not-so-great fitment)
- Full catback exhaust
- Replace / refinish headliner
- That snazzy new GPS Multimedia kit from AVIN (currently has mixed reviews)
- Replace entire cooling setup with a kit from Zionsville
- Timing chain guides (if needed)
Now for some highlights:
Navigating January winter highways with my pooch riding shotgun (and yes my alignment is jacked again after changing out more control arms. Time to go get it done professionally!)
Replaced these broken exhaust hangers (ones near the rear wheels). I thought I had a driveshaft going bad, but it turned out to be broken hangers and my exhaust was hitting the mid support plate causing vibration under accell. Fixed it right up!
No more low hanging exhaust - and weather is warming up! Bring on spring.

Compression numbers looking good, not bad for 17 years and 150k.
You get rid of this car?
