The simplest solution would be to used a threaded collar seat for the spring vice reconfiguring to a full rear coilover setup. Basically like most other BMW street coilover setups.
For example here is the KW Clubsport kit on my E92 M3. The rear uses coilover springs with a variable height mount to raise and lower the car. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if other BMW variable height rear collars fit the E31. The front is the tricky part.
