Here is a build that we are done with that will be going to the dyno tomorrow. I am not here to advertise my shop, or to sell any products. Just sharing a somewhere rare cool bmw being built. Would be happy to answer any questions.
Its a stock motor (refresh rings/rod bearings/main bearings, gaskets)
ARP head studs
Cometic headgasket
Spec 6 spuck sprung clutch
3" full exhaust
borg 67mm turbo
Link standalone ecu plug and play that is a plug and play for a m50 vanos motor. We had to repin it to get it to work.
Car is setup to be a fun "street" car with occasional action. Will only be pushing 14psi on pump gas.
removed the factory oil pressure sender, installed this adapter fitting. The male end is the turbo feed line. The female is for the autometer oil pressure sender.
Making a downpipe and catback exhaust system.
Water temp sender installation
We are high volume shop, some times we just dont have the time to keep the shop as clean as we would like.
All wrapped up. We are hoping for 400-500 whp on 1 bar boost tomorrow.

SIck setup. What exhaust manifold did you use there?
Its a e36 m50 obx exhaust manifold. Fits the bay nice.
The link ecu has nice options to test/activate each injector and coil while the engine is NOT running. You can hear each injector/coil pulse.
When we got to the dyno cylinder 4 coil wouldnt fire. Checked and the ecu fried. A brand new link. We hope warranty covers it.
Got the link ecu repaired. fired it all up. tested all 6 coils and 6 injectors. All fire. We will be on the dyno tomorrow with results.
Great,,,, really nice build

How did the dyno appointment go?

Did they ever come back and report results anywhere?
I was thinking sounded a lot more like a 300 whp build instead of 400-500...
If I were to give my Touring a first name, I'd probably name it "Alan".
Mostly because I like puns.

Op was targeting 14psi, if he got there and there aren't any major restrictions elsewhere in the system I would think that would be well north of 300, probably 400 or better with a 67mm turbo. I am assuming they are meaning 67mm compressor inducer, if in fact they mean 67mm compressor exducer then I would agree with you.
They state pump gas and cometic head gasket, I wonder how thick of a head gasket they went with.

Forgot to update, the dyno went well. The car made 399 whp on 14 psi on pump gas. A little lower than expected but not by much. This turbo will wake up once we get it on e85 and get in the 25-30psi range.
Will fix the pictures shortly.
How much roughly was spent on this build and how different would it be with a non vanos m50?
