    2016 Japanese GP @ Suzuka

Love this track and it's a shame that we can't have more tracks like Suzuka (and a few others) anymore. Nowadays it's all about sharp and fist-second gear speed 90+* bends and more of street circuit racing. Whatever happened to some great high-mid speed tracks that we used to see back then? Maybe it's just me but I think it's such a shame that all these new tracks are just not fun and likeable tracks anymore in my view.

Anyways, we still have few more races to go, so the season hasn't wrapped up yet. Still 50/50 chances for both Merc drivers to become a world champion. Still plenty of chances for teams like RBR and Ferrari to win a race. Still more chances for drivers to switch around in the points table. Looking forward to "Shogun" race!

Yay! One of my favorites on the calendar.

I wonder if Merc will publicize the forensic investigation of MC Hammer's engine?

Hoping that Massa can dig himself out of the hole he's in and finish the season strong so that Williams can move ahead of FI again.

I agree with you, auaq - I would gladly rid the calendar of the slow, technical tracks in favor of more Suzukas, Spas, and Monzas. I doubt it will happen, but it would be nice.

Maybe Hammy himself will just tweet the whole Mercedes engineering's database, instead of a few graphs like at McLaren.

In other news, some F1 drivers have truly appalling musical taste:

Yeah, I saw a tweet about that. I feel too embarrassed for some of them.

    Would've expected Kimi to list:
    Eko Fresh - Boah
Missy Elliott - Pass that Dutch
    Birdman ft. T-Pain - I Know What I'm Doing

Excellent choices by Nasr, at least he's good at something.

    Bottas' choices are downright embarrassing.

Haven't heard of any of Ric's music. Hipster much?

Maybe it's just me or not but I don't believe all that list of songs these drivers listen to. Lewis is exceptional in music taste and we know what type of music he listens to, but all others .... sounds like the list was literally made up.

Why? Seems plausible enough to me. Bunch of Europeans.

So do we need to discuss our reigning world champion's liberal use of Snapchat during the drivers' press conference...?

I'm already way too fed up with hearing about that douche. I wish we could just have a Lewis-free F1 again.

For anyone interested, it turns out a rod bearing failed in Hamsonian Museum's engine on Sunday.

...and now they've told all Merc-engine'd dudes to keep to their current used engine and not use new ones. Also they're given some restrictions in drive modes (unconfirmed info), and they have to go back to a more conservative oil type.

I think he is seriously more interested in becoming a "personality" than being known as an F1 driver. He is doing all he can to become a rapper and have his name branded on things.

I know he's a real racer and is very good and I want to like him, but he makes it so difficult.

Quite a bit of smoke was coming out of Rosberg's car as he left the garage which did seem concerning but it's running fine now. Nevertheless, like what Magnezium said, pretty sure the Mercs are going to take it a little easy.

What he did in the press conference was just rude. Plain and simple. I don't care if he was trying to show he "moved on" from Malaysia or whatever, or making some kind of statement that he thinks the fans should be asking the questions---it was R-U-D-E rude. I think Bieber is rubbing off on him.

Verstappen's sporting duel with Ricciardo wasn't what it seemed to be. He is still an unsportsmanlike, self-centered d**k who can't imagine himself in the other guy's shoes: he has stated that if anyone else had been against him (other than his teammate), he would've pushed them off the track! As if that would be allowed, or fair.

He can't seem to grasp the concept that the other guy could push him off too... but they don't because that's not how you race, that's not how you find out who's the better driver!

Turn 16 and 17 look very bouncy as cars take those turns. Was it like that before?

Welp, Force Indian knocked out Williams in the Q2.

Rosberg is flying in the 1:30 min lap.

Yaa! Rosberg on pole and Hamy real close behind him.

I'm stoked for tomorrow's race...kind of. Vettel shouldn't have a grid penalty. Anyway, I guess everyone's looking forward to seeing if Red Bull and Ferrari can threaten Mercedes, if things are mixed up in the start, and of course the possible tangling of the two Merc-dorks.

I suspect that Haas will decline in the race (Grosjean talked about how he can't keep his tires in shape, and if he tries he's too slow), Williams vs. Force India might not be too exciting being only a race of tactics, if that. Unfortunately.
