I'm new to the Twin Cities and looking for a trustworthy and fair mechanic in the area.
Specifically, I'm in need of someone who will replace the starter in my E38 '98 740i. I took it to one import place and was quoted over $600, which is more than I can afford and more than seems reasonable to me.
Alternatively, if there's anyone nearby who'd be interested in helping me do the job, I'm eager to learn more about DIY maintenance.
Thanks.

I realize this is a necropost, but anyone reading this looking for a recommendations should look at EuroTech in New Brighton. The owner, Seth, does a lot of the BMW training for both factory and independent mechanics across the US. They have full warranty on their work, and they can diagnose problems that most other shops can't.
Other options include Orr Autosport and German Autowerks.
Thanks, very good to know.
