Hello, I was just looking for some help on clips and fasteners for the side trim on my 1988 325is... I think I have all the correct new parts, just want to make sure I have the clips in the right spots.
The door pic: I think I need an additional square clip towards the front of the door, but I'm not sure. There are two type of the square clips. The other is in the next picture on the rear quarter.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
See my photo for the correct position. The front clip kinda pulls the molding tight against the door, then it snaps into the remaining clips and should have a nut on the opposite end.
I didn't see your response till just now...Thanks for the photo though. I got all mine on today. Ill post up some pictures. Wish I would have seen your post. LOL I used all of the same ones on the door. instead of the one you posed about. The molding seemed to clip in well and is held tight to the door. I guess thats where its going to stay.
I stripped 4 layers of paint off these moldings and painted them 3 times. What a bunch of tedious work! I used a 2k urethane primer and adhesive promoter before the top coat. SEM trim black would not dry for some reason, so I had to strip the paint off and try again. I used a 2k black with hardener and that did the truck. Eastwood makes on in a spray can called satin black. It has a button you hot that releases the activator/hardener.
My moulding clip most forward was also on sideways on the rear quarter. (Clip furthest forward)
old thread but im looking for these part numbers and diagrams if anyone has them.
