1995 540i M-Sport 6 speed - MD
Price drop!
Genuine E34 540i M-Sport 6 speed, one of ~135 cars.
If you don't know what it is, the M-Sport was sold in the US as a substitute M5. It was available only for the last year of the E34 sedan. Equipment included an identical to M5 exterior treatment, with two-piece M-system "throwing star" wheels, US M5 brakes, a full sport power leather interior, and most importantly, EDC (electronic damper control) suspension. That, coupled with the M60B40 and a 6 speed manual make for a car that can carve corners almost as well as it can fly down the highway.
What it did not included originally, but has been added, is a 3.15 limited slip differential. As required, and to not ruin the fun of driving, the throttle body butterfly portion of the ASC system has been removed, while retaining the rear brake feature which is very useful in the wet. Additionally, this car has a lightweight flywheel, non-stock clutch, upgraded cooling system, added X-pipe (exhaust crossover) and a Conforti chip.
This car has 183,xxx miles on the odometer, and a sheaf of maintenance records/part invoices going back years. As far as I am aware, the car has been enthusiast owned/driven/maintained since new. The EDC & SLS system is completely functional, and comes with spares should the current units have difficulties down the road. Along with that, the car comes with some useful spares for the future, from a new clutch kit, new brakes for all four corners, to intake parts, and miscellaneous smaller items.
As of now, the car needs the lower oil pan gasket done again. I, perhaps foolishly, removed the old one in an effort to solve an oil leak, didn't apply RTV to the gasket and exacerbated the issue. If the buyer is local I will be happy to repeat the repair, only correctly this time. In the future the mechanical tensioner for the main serpentine belt could use replacement. Beyond that, the car has a few bumps and signs of wear that should be expected on a 21 year old vehicle that has been used as a car, rather than as a garage place holder.
