    BMW 135i muffler

I'm 16 and for my birthday got a BMW 135i, I was wondering if I do an exhaust delete will it compromise the performance or hurt the car in any way.

    Hey Chris,

Congrats on the car man! I also have a 135i and love it. If you remove the exhaust; you'll fail smog in case you need to have it tested and your gas mileage will be drastically effected because of the valve that regulates the car's throttle. There are other issues that you'll encounter as well. I wouldn't recommend taking it off, but there are other options you can look into; if you're looking for performance gains. Hope this helps!

I'm not really sure what smog is. I live in Fort Lauderdale Florida so I don't know if that's a problem down here. But my friend who has a 128i did a muffler delete and it sounds amazing and According to him hasn't had any negative effects on the car what so ever. I'm just really confused on what to do. My dad had borla do his M6 and his X6Ms exhaust and they sound amazing but I'm working on restoring a car right now and don't really want to spend that $$. What do you think I should do.

    Hey Chris,

My mistake, for some reason I thought that getting your car smoged was a federal regulation; but it's a state-by-state thing and deals with your car's level of emissions. I think in Florida it's not necessary.....as far as the muffler delete - without getting too technical, I would still stay away from removing it because of the way your car is tuned. The 128 doesn't have a turbo on it, so it's less problematic. Although he hasn't had any negative effects, his car isn't happy with him. If performance and sound is what you're going for, but you have a budget; check out the aFe exhaust on our site. Really really nice sound and overall performance. If you want the ultimate setup, then go with the Dinan exhaust; you won't find a better one for your 1...also available on our site. Hope this helps man and best of luck!

Sounds good Chris. I have no doubt that you'll be a fan of how it sounds and performs.
