    e92 m3 or f80 m3..?

    Long story short.

In 3 years from now, I want to either get an f80 m3 or the e92 m3.

Is the e92 m3 superior in any other way other than the sound? I WANT to get the e92 m3 because I know it's a "Special" m3 just like all the other ones before it while the f80 m3 will likely not be a special m3? Since all the ones that come after it will likely all have twin turbo straight sixes? I dont think there will be a unique m3 to the f80 m3 anymore.

I know that the f80 m3 has a way better interior, looks better (in my opinion) is tremendously faster. As far as I know the e92 m3 just sounds better and steers better? (can anyone confirm)

Let me put it this way, lets assume you had an e92 m3 with the exact same performance numbers/power as the f80 m3 (lets say a supercharger, so it still has that glorious naturally aspirated sound) Would you still chose the f80 m3 over the e92?

the e92 m3 is a lot heavier too.. which is a bummer but i could always go down with weight.

I kinda hope that in 3 years i cant even afford the f80 m3, so it forces me to get the e92 m3, because i will have to be happy no matter what i had no choice so to speak.

I mean, obviously id be hella happy with both choices, as I am still young and only car I had so far was an e36 m3 (north american m3) for a short while.

My biggest worry with e92 m3 is the weight and fact that its biggest criticism is horrible torque down low. But I would plan to mod the car a bit.

For some reason I am drawn to the e92 m3, honestly it would be the wiser choice but i cant help but realize the f80 m3 destroys it in every single way.. or does it

A lot can happen between age 13 and age 16 that might influence your decision. Good thing you have 3 years to ponder this. Hopefully we wont all be in self driving cars then.

I think there are two standout good points of the F80: simple bolt-on aftermarket parts result in large power gains, this includes adding to the low RPM torque, and better fuel economy.

However, if you ever get to thrash the E92, especially on a track, you won't be wondering what you're missing as compared to the F80. A lot of people are worried at what appear to be low torque numbers from the S65, and yet in the real world, it's irrelevant. If you run up in the correct RPM range, e.g. above 4-4.5K, the F80 will be the furthest thing from your mind.

Styling is a to-each-their-own, and my opinion is that the E92 looks better - cleaner - than the F80.

When considering a used M car... also remember that used car maintenance costs are extremely high. Replacement brakes will run you about $2500. Tires every 10k miles will set you back $600 for the rear $1200 for all four. Bearing replacements, cooling system updates. DCT service... all costly items.
Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by hundreds of engineers that get paid thousands of dollars for something you bought at Pep Boys because your buddy who doesn't have a job told you it was 'better'?!?
