Hello everyone, long time bimmer owner first time e60 M5 owner,
I just picked up a 2006 M5 to add to my collection of bmws, so far I like it, but Im still trying to get accustom to it.
I picked up the car today from the dealer that I bought it from, by loading it on my car hauler for the 4 hr drive back to my side of the world.
When I shut the car off, a symbol came on the dash that Ive never seen, it was a yellow warning but it was a car symbol with arrows on top going left to right above the car.
Could anyone shed some light on it
Thanks

It means the car is in neutral and simply could roll back and forth. PLEASE make sure you use the Ebrake to make sure that doesnt happen.....how many curbs have I rolled into....a few.... :-) Best of luck and welcome to your new BMW!!
How many miles was your e60? I am thinking of buying an 06 too.
BTW congrats on your new car!!!
Be aware that mechanics, tire shops, window tinting spots, stereo install shops, etc...are not very bright with this and it seems their pride will keep them from asking.
A good sign that they don't know what they are doing is when they can't start the car. (Cuz it is in gear). That is your clue to make sure to tell them how the tranny works.
Too many times I have come back to the car in neutral.

Any rod bearing issues? Seriously close to buying one myself, but the rod bearing issues is making me hesitate
Im currently rebuilding my S85 due to a rod bearing that started to spin, it spun during the waiting period of expecting my new rod bearings and new internal vanos line was being shipped to me. I still would have bought my car regardless of this issue, but if youre looking at buying one, best thing is to have a full service history on the one youre looking at, mine had one from a single bmw dealership from the day it was delivered till I bought it, but they didnt service the rod bearings

I am having Vanos (all 4) issues (line and or oil pump) on my 06 M6 S85 motor. My motor has 103,000 miles. If I have the issue rebuilt, i will have the rod bearings rebuilt as well. My 06 M6 (due to 96% or better body chassis and interior) is a keeper! So either a rebuild or new engine. I prefer the rebuild service to the replacement engine. I am in Dallas Ft. Worth, TX. So currently, I have 2 mechanics advising engine replacement. I might have 1 to rebuild. I am looking for a Rebuild mechanic ($Price reason) in Dallas Ft. Worth. Any members locally that have a referral?
What is it costing you for the rebuild Parts & labor?
