They will be making more as needed, I wouldn't rush into buying multiples, as the kinematics fail way more often than the motor itself.

Re Kinematics: The design/job process of it all is quite discouraging, as it's very complex.

Good to know. I’ll save myself that extra $500 and use it for something else on the car!

Sorry, are you saying you got the kinematics for $500?

Negative. I paid just under $500 for a new motor for the sunroof. Sorry about the confusion.

I'm getting the feeling that unless BMW classics starts reproducing Kinematics, we may be out of luck. I'm leaving my LeatherZ cover panel in place until that happy day comes.

I'll just treat my sunroof as a panel and never open it at least my AC works

Just destroyed one of my slider things the other day. Based on Randy's pictures, on one side I now have the core carriage piece with the feet and cable-holder broken off on either side.

I'm thinking about JB Weld or Suguru -- glob on some new wings/tabs, sand them down to shape, and re-insert into the track...?

Randy, what is that velcro I see in some of those pictures? The logical side of me guesses that it's to hold up a sun shade. The side of me with broken sunroof kinematics wonders if it could be used to hold the damn thing shut so I don't have to repair it.

    2001 z3 mcoupe,
Replacement sliders for z3 mcoupe moon roof. After a couple of months my friend has managed to cnc machine two replacement sliders as these are the parts that have failed on my 2001 z3 m, cost a wee bit but was wondering if anyone else needs them? Iím fitting them this weekend, can post pics of them if anyone is interested, they are stainless steel and improved design. Cheers,Ben.

My sunroof failed but in what I think might be an unusual way...

My mechanism works and is all intact. But one of the pins holding the glass to the lifter arm fell out. Luckily for me I had a complete extra sunroof assembly so I scavenged a pin off that, but I can't seem to be able to get it in place. Has anyone else had this issue and fixed it without dropping the headliner?

Ben, this is great!! Now, have you figured up a solution for securing the cable?

Yes the same litte bullet type covers that clamp on, I can get them too or give you sizes of the ones to use as Iím sure they readily available 👍🏻

To reply to the chap who lost a pin, the headliner is not difficult to drop and it would be much easier to then secure pin with c-clip thing with it dismantled also give you the chance to lubricant moving parts which I wish I knew before mine gave up!

That's some awesome work. Curious about any potential rattling, because the pressure "spring" function is gone. Maybe some quality sticky grease? The crimping part will need to be well secured because there is a lot of force on that slider attachment.
Good job on getting it done!

Hi, do you mean the coiled wire that surrounds cable? that is still there, the wire is visible because the bullet crimp thing is not attached yet. I do realise the feet of the old one were made of some type of self lubricating plastic but I reckon with the tension and sticky lubricant it should not rattled will post clip when fitted this weekend 👍🏻

No, on the slider part, the plastic covering has a slightly arched connection from one foot to the other.

    2001 z3 mcoupe,
Well spotted Iíve looked at it and it seems to be pretty solid with cable attached and also working arm part, Iím thinking about reversing the cable part ( swapping sides) to using the bullet end piece fitted at manufacture at the outer slider end as as you say that is under most pressure, your thoughts? This may not work as it needs to pull cable in the right direction, I will put a clip up at the weekend so all can see. Cheers

Fantastic! Do you have an idea what it will cost to reproduce these? I'm in for one.
