I wonder if Pirelli will fix the tires that cost Mercedes the race last year...that was a welcome change of pace. Otherwise, I think it will be a bit of a snoozer up front.

Yeah, it'd be really nice to see Ferrari and RBR dice for the win/podiums.

Unfortunately, I think RBR will have the edge on Ferrari here, since they aren't hindered (as much) by a power deficit.

They've also got superior traction out of corners - especially the slow ones. Their engine maps (for driveability) are much better than Ferrari's although Ferrari has improved a little - IMO not enough to catch Merc or RBR.

Renault's reliability has been impressive this year.

    - - - Updated - - -

If they can squeeze just a little bit more power and with RBR's chassis they could hold off the Mercs.

Hopefully Ric will have an all-singing, all-dancing weekend like he did in Monaco. And his team will not screw up the pitstop(s).

Congrats to Bottas on his nuptials. That's 2-for-2 in Finnish F1 drivers married this summer.

Yeah, congrats to Bottas and wife, and Kimi and wife.

Anyways, I wonder who Button has a contract with for 2018.......

Hopefully there are a few people out of sync in quali. It at least makes for a more exciting race when they are cutting through the pack. Maybe even a wet quali - just remembered that that's not going to happen because they seed the clouds if it's going to rain. Oh well. one can hope.

Any more word on who Williams has lined up for the #2 seat? Stroll still on the front burner?

I kinda wish it would rain. Rain + night + street circuit + long race + humidity = Potentially interesting race.

I haven't found confirmation but it was suggested/rumored to be Stroll.

Edit: just read that Nasr is also being considered for the seat. Stroll/Nasr.

Not that I can recall. It would be nice to have it though, even though Hamilton can drive in the wet very well.

Like I mentioned previously - every time it has threatened to rain in Singapore the government has been ready to seed the clouds and cause it to rain prior to (or away from) the race, since September is the start of their rainy season.

Who do you think are the best drivers in the wet?

    Hamilton, Hulkenberg, Vettel, Alonso.

Best to read changing conditions: Button.

But results in the wet are really up to the car and especially car setup. If the driver feels confident then he can nail it in the wet. If the car's a dog then there's no chance they are going to do well.

Someone more versed than me pointed this out: https://www.gov.sg/factually/content...-not-affect-f1

So, during the practice sessions in the past few years the talk about cloud seeding was bogus.... Cannot trust Crofty.

Rosberg fastest in FP2, session-ending hydraulic leak on Hammy's W07.

That's it, he was on 3 wheels at point.

Hamilton in 3rd right behind Rosberg who's next to Ricciardo, should be a fun start.

Well, at least he has a bunch of unused tires, right? I know the car isn't the same, and the track isn't the same, but I still love his drive at Abu Dhabi in 2012.

Yeah, he should have some "extra" tires.

Good race, another lap and Ricciardo would have won it.

Kinda makes me wish F1 had "stoppage time" like in soccer/football.

Do you guys think a different strategy call or swifter response from Ferrari would have allowed Kimi to stay ahead of Hamilton?

What a crap race from Williams. Didn't really expect much though. Really starting to think Massa's just phoning it in.
